How many chemotherapy options are there for lung cancer?

Chemotherapy is one of the treatments for lung cancer. The method of chemotherapy also needs to depend on the stage of development of lung cancer, so as to determine the correct treatment plan. Chemotherapy treatment will cause certain harm to the patient's body, so care after chemotherapy should be taken seriously.

Commonly used regimens for small cell lung cancer

The first-line regimen is EP and CE, where EP is Vp16 (etoposide) + PDD (cisplatin), or CBP (carboplatin) + Vp16 (etoposide); the second-line regimen is topotecan (Hemeixin) or irinotecan (Capto).

Commonly used regimens for non-small cell lung cancer

There are generally three standard first-line regimens: vinorelbine (Navelbine) + cisplatin or carboplatin, paclitaxel (Taxol) + cisplatin or carboplatin, and gemcitabine (Gemcitabine) + cisplatin or carboplatin. The therapeutic effects are comparable, with no significant difference, but there are differences in toxic and side effects.

There are currently two commonly used second-line standard regimens in clinical practice: docetaxel and Alimta. From the perspective of clinical trials and applications, doxataxel has been used for many years with proven efficacy and is a classic standard second-line regimen, but it has relatively high toxic side effects. Alimta has only been on the market for more than two years, and clinical trials have shown that it has good therapeutic effects. After pretreatment, it has very little toxic side effects and is well tolerated by patients.

Other solutions

Other options that can be used for non-small cell lung cancer include irinotecan (Captor), epirubicin, and mitomycin.

Chemotherapy has strong toxic side effects and can easily cause various discomfort symptoms during chemotherapy. Therefore, traditional Chinese medicine can also be combined with chemotherapy during lung cancer chemotherapy to enhance the therapeutic effect while reducing the side effects of chemotherapy, inhibiting and eliminating tumors, thereby achieving better therapeutic effects. For example, Ganoderma lucidum (high-concentration Ganoderma lucidum preparations, medical-grade Ganoderma lucidum spore powder, etc.) has a very outstanding anti-chemotherapy effect. Its strengthening and immune-enhancing properties can be used in any stage of tumor treatment.
