Is electroacupuncture effective in treating lumbar disc herniation?

Lumbar disc herniation is an extremely common and very harmful disease. There are many clinical treatments at present. Among them, electroacupuncture therapy is quite effective. It stimulates acupoints to dredge meridians and relieve pain, etc., and is very popular among patients. In addition, patients can do some health exercises, such as flying swallows and sit-ups, which are very good. Finally, you must learn to relax yourself and not let your muscles be too tense.

1. Is electroacupuncture effective in treating lumbar disc herniation?

When electroacupuncture is used to treat lumbar disc herniation, the empirical acupoint "Lumbar Dislocation Point" is used. It is approximately 1.0 inch lateral to the affected side of the posterior midline of the spine, between the L4/L5 segment Jiaji point and the Dachangshu point. Pressing this point will cause obvious radiating pain along the sciatic nerve in most patients.

After routine disinfection of the acupoints, the clamping needle method is used for straight insertion, and the angle and depth are adjusted while the needle is inserted to obtain a clear sense of qi and "qi reaching the diseased area". After acupuncture, the G 6805-Ⅱ electro-anesthesia device was connected, with the handle of the needle as one electrode and a wet cotton ball fixed on the skin 1 cm away from the acupoint as the other electrode. The device used a continuous wave, with a pulse width of about 0.6 ms, a frequency of 15 Hz, and an initial current of 0.5 mA. The current was increased every 10 minutes, depending on the patient's maximum tolerance. The needles were left in for 30 minutes each time, once every other day, and the treatment was given 3 times a week.

2. Health exercises for lumbar disc herniation

The key to the first type of exercise for lumbar disc herniation is to relax the tense muscle groups of the body. You can take a roller made of foam or soft cloth, place it on the ground, sit on it diagonally, support the ground with your hands, and constantly move the roller with your hips, pressing the roller hard while rolling. After pressing the buttocks, you can change parts to another area and press and roll the waist, knees, calves and other parts. Both can effectively reduce muscle pressure and alleviate the symptoms of lumbar disc herniation.

The second health exercise for lumbar disc herniation is called Flying Swallow. Lie on your stomach, face down, raise your head, then imitate the posture of a swallow taking off, and slowly lift your legs up with force. At this time, you must place your hands behind your back and hold them tightly, so that the muscles in your waist can be contracted, and use your chest and abdomen to support your entire body. Do this for a few minutes and several times a day. This can greatly improve the vitality of your abdominal muscles.

The third type of exercise for lumbar disc herniation is the very common sit-up. In order to meet the treatment characteristics of lumbar disc herniation, we need to modify the sit-up. Prepare a chair, put your feet on the chair, then lie on the ground, put your hands behind your neck, and do sit-ups without moving your legs and feet. Do a few each time, once in the morning, noon and evening, and it can effectively restore the damage to the waist caused by lumbar disc herniation.
