The role and function of the bladder meridian

The bladder meridian is a relatively important meridian in the human body. Its most important function is to detoxify and beautify the skin. It is also the largest detoxification channel in the human body. Massaging and dredging the bladder meridian in daily life, or other methods, can achieve the effect of regulating and maintaining the body. It is necessary to understand the location of the bladder meridian and strengthen the work of meridian dredging in daily life to contribute to the health of the body.

The role and function of the bladder meridian

The greatest benefit of the bladder meridian is its detoxification function. The bladder meridian is the largest detoxification channel in the human body. You can often see cupping on the backs of people in fitness centers outside. The purpose is to excrete toxins from the body through the bladder meridian. However, cupping must be done along the bladder meridian. The main acupoints on the back are called Yu points, and Yu means channel. It is the channel between the internal organs and the body surface, so the toxins in the internal organs can be discharged through the acupoints, so it is the most direct method of detoxification.

Where is the bladder meridian located?

Let’s talk about the back first. The back is in the middle of the Du meridian, and the bladder meridian is from 1.5 inches to 3 inches away from the middle spine. It runs from head to toe. Its starting point is called Jingming point. As the name suggests, Jingming point is the point that makes eyes bright. In the past, the first eye exercise we did was to press and rub the Jingming point. Many people can't help rubbing this point with their hands when they are tired of reading or watching computers. They feel very comfortable. In fact, this is rubbing the point, but this point is actually very deep. If you want it to really play its due role, you must pay attention to the method of rubbing and how to stimulate it. The best way is to cut the nails flat, press the head with this hand, and press this point with the middle finger (of the other hand). It is at the root of the nose. This point is very deep. Use the middle finger to move in the direction of the head. You can rub it while pressing, but don't use too much force, as it may hurt the eyes. You can also rub both sides at the same time. If this acupoint is taken seriously and massaged regularly, it can really prevent myopia and eye fatigue. This acupoint is a very important one.

We just talked about the back Shu points. There are many Shu points on the back, but we don’t need to master all of them. We can choose a few acupoints that are commonly used and very important.

Lung Shu, Jueyin Shu, Heart Shu. When looking for the acupoint, you can press it with your hands. You can stimulate the acupoint that is sensitive more. The stimulation methods include massage, cupping, acupuncture, and scraping. When you feel depressed, gently scrape the area. Usually, black and purple sha will appear near the Jueyinshu point. Then you will feel that there is plenty of oxygen in your chest and your breathing is smooth. Once the pain in your back is relieved, you will feel relieved in your heart. This acupoint can prevent myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, and coronary heart disease. It is a very important acupoint.

Looking further down, there are Liver Shu, Gallbladder Shu, Spleen Shu, and Stomach Shu. Let’s mainly talk about Kidney Shu. Because Shenshu is an important acupoint for treating low back pain. In fact, this acupoint is very easy to find. When you have lower back pain, you will press this acupoint with your hand. In fact, this acupoint is the Shenshu point. However, it is not easy to find this acupoint specifically. A simple method is: stand up and let your elbows hang down. The tip of your elbow is roughly the same as the location of the kidney point. But some people have long arms and some have short arms, so this is not the specific position, it is just a reference. Do not measure all the acupoints with a ruler, as you will not be able to find them accurately. You have to measure them based on your body's feeling. When your kidneys and waist are sore, or your kidneys are weak, this place will react. You can cupping and acupressure in this area. This acupoint is more sensitive than other places. This acupoint is your Shenshu point. So this is how you find the acupoint.

After finishing the Shenshu point, go down and find the Weizhong point. The Weizhong point is actually very easy to find. Just bend your knee and it will be right in the middle. This acupoint is very deep. You need to use some techniques when pressing it. Press it with your thumb, and hold the person's ankle with your other hand. Without moving your other hand, the acupoint will become sensitive and you will find it. It is very deep. There is a rhyme that goes, "For problems with your waist and back, press Weizhong." If you have problems with your waist or back, or if you have back pain, press Weizhong. So some people say they have lumbar muscle strain or back pain, and you will get immediate relief by pressing Weizhong. This is a very important acupuncture point.
