What are the causes of glassy shadows in the lungs?

The human lungs are very fragile and easily affected by some diseases. Once a disease occurs in the lungs, it will directly affect the health of the body. When some people have their lungs checked, they will have glassy shadows in the lungs. This result can easily make patients think of lung cancer. In fact, glassy shadows in the lungs are completely different from lung cancer. So what are the causes of glassy shadows in the lungs?

First, what are the causes of glassy shadows in the lungs? There are many possibilities for ground-glass shadows in the lungs. Inflammation, nodules, tumors, etc. may cause this pathological change. It is generally recommended to have regular check-ups. If the ground-glass opacity increases, surgical treatment can be performed if necessary. Consider the presence of lung inflammation, which is often seen in symptoms caused by pneumonia. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs should be used to actively prevent upper respiratory tract infections. Drinking plenty of water can humidify the respiratory tract. Pay attention to nutritional supplements to enhance the body's disease resistance. Lung inflammation can be detected through x-rays. Ground-glass shadows in the lungs are often considered to be a manifestation of lung inflammation. Routine blood tests show elevated white blood cell counts, and sputum bacterial culture can identify the causative bacteria and administer targeted antibiotics.

Second, it may be tuberculosis. It may also be a simple inflammatory infection. It is recommended that you first pay attention to rest, eat a proper diet, measure your body temperature, and go to the hospital in time for further examination of sputum bacteria and timely treatment.

Third, ground-glass shadows may indicate diseases such as tuberculosis and lung infection. Combined with the clinical symptoms, further examination should be conducted to identify the cause and guide the next step of treatment. It is recommended to seek treatment from the Department of Respiratory Medicine and Thoracic Surgery and conduct further examinations to determine the cause of the disease. In fact, there is a phenomenon of different images for the same disease and same images for different diseases in imaging. That is, some lung lesions may be highly suspected of lung cancer in imaging. The tumor is large, especially larger than 3CM, with short and fine spurs around it, lobes, pleural traction signs and other malignant signs, but the final pathological results suggest tuberculosis, fungal disease or organizing pneumonia. On the other hand, some lesions are very small, less than 2 cm, with relatively smooth edges and no aforementioned malignant signs. Some may even only present as partial solid ground-glass shadows, very similar to inflammatory lesions or other benign lesions, but the final pathological diagnosis is early lung cancer. Especially the latter case, it is very easy to misdiagnose early lung cancer, causing patients to regret for the rest of their lives.
