What to do if the episiotomy wound does not heal

After surgery, everyone hopes that their wounds can heal as quickly as possible. It will take about half a month to remove the stitches on the knife wound after surgery. Although the wound left a scar at this time, it has basically healed. But if the episiotomy wound cannot heal, everyone needs to pay special attention. If a wound does not heal for a long time, it will become infected. So, what should you do if the episiotomy wound does not heal?

1. Eat more high-fiber foods, develop regular bowel habits, drink more water, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, drink more fish soup and pig's trotter soup, do not eat too much meat, spicy and stimulating foods, and foods that are difficult to digest to avoid constipation.

2. Change sanitary napkins frequently to keep the vulva clean, avoid wound infection, and prevent lochia from soaking the wound. Remember to disinfect the wound every day. It is best to wipe the vulva from front to back with disinfectant cotton at night after urination and defecation.

3. Get out of bed as soon as possible after delivery, and be careful not to squat forcefully within a few days after the stitches are removed; within 1 month after delivery, new mothers should not lift heavy objects or do any strenuous housework or exercise.

4. Sexual intercourse is prohibited within six weeks after episiotomy during normal delivery. This is very important, you must hold back.

5. When edema occurs in the wound, the sutures are very tight before they are removed and the pain will continue. At this time, you can use 95% alcohol gauze or 50% magnesium sulfate gauze for local moist hot compresses, twice a day. When applying hot compress, raise your buttocks a little to facilitate the return of body fluids.

6. When a new mother is lying on her left side, her center of gravity should be tilted to the right as much as possible, and she should sleep in the right side decubitus position. This can reduce the pain caused by pressure on the wound and prevent epidermal dislocation. It is beneficial for wound recovery.
