What to do if you have common hepatic duct stones

What to do if you have common hepatic duct stones

Common duct stones are a type of liver disease. Liver disease can make patients feel unwell, often accompanied by fever, nausea, vomiting, and even severe pain. This situation can pose a great danger to the body, so patients should control their diet, adjust their daily life, try not to eat too greasy food, and keep a light diet.

Diet and health care

Patients with cholecystitis and cholelithiasis (also required after surgery) must have a light diet and avoid overeating, drinking too much, overeating, and consuming too much fish, meat, oil, high fat, high cholesterol, fried foods, and alcohol. There are not many requirements on your work and rest schedule, just be careful not to overwork yourself. When chronic cholecystitis or gallstones occur acutely, you must fast and take anti-inflammatory drugs. Never use painkillers (painkillers will mask the condition and cause wrong judgment and misdiagnosis). If you have a fever or severe pain, you must go to the hospital. It is not recommended to handle or treat it at home, as it will only waste time, increase pain and increase danger!

Preventive Care

There is nothing to be too taboo about, the main thing is to pay attention to daily life issues

Pathological etiology

1. Secondary common bile duct stones are basically the same or similar in shape, size, and properties to coexisting gallbladder stones. The number varies and may be single or multiple. If the diameter of the multiple stones in the gallbladder is small and there is obvious dilation of the cystic duct, a large number of stones can enter the common bile duct, common hepatic duct or left and right hepatic ducts.

2. Primary common bile duct stones are primary bile duct stones that occur in the common bile duct. The cause and formation mechanism are not yet fully understood. Current research results suggest that the formation of this type of stone is closely related to bile tract infection, bile stasis, and biliary parasitic diseases. The stones are mostly brown-black in appearance, soft, fragile, and of various shapes, sizes, and numbers. Some are shaped like fine sand or shapeless mud, so they are called "mud-like stones". The composition of this type of stone is a pigment stone mainly composed of bilirubin calcium. Analysis showed that its main components are bilirubin, biliverdin and a small amount of cholesterol, as well as minerals such as calcium, sodium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and a variety of trace elements. Among minerals, calcium ions have the highest content and easily combine with bilirubin to form bilirubin calcium. In addition, there are a variety of proteins and mucins that form a mesh scaffold. In some cases, the parasite's shell, eggs, and bacterial aggregates can be seen under a microscope.

Disease diagnosis

The following conditions, which may present with right upper quadrant pain and jaundice, should be considered in the differential diagnosis:

① Congenital diseases: such as common bile duct cyst and hemolytic jaundice. ②Inflammatory diseases: such as infectious hepatitis, chronic pancreatitis, and acute cholecystitis. ③Traumatic lesions: such as stenosis of the common bile duct after surgery. ④ Parasitic diseases: such as biliary ascariasis and Chinese schistosomiasis. ⑤ Cancer: such as liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, etc.
