Many people think that vocal cord cysts are not a very serious disease, but if the vocal cord cysts are relatively large, they may not be able to close, causing hoarseness when speaking, and even sore throat. If surgery is not performed, the cysts may grow larger and the hoarseness will become more severe. Therefore, you must pay attention to the fact that vocal cord cysts can easily cause hoarseness and even a feeling of stuffiness, which requires slow adjustment. 1. There is a cyst on the vocal cord, which causes the vocal cord to be unable to close completely when pronouncing, so symptoms such as hoarseness will occur. If surgery is not performed, the cyst may grow larger, the hoarseness will become more severe, and eventually the vocal cords will not close completely, resulting in loss of voice. Therefore, it is recommended to have surgery as soon as possible. 2 Vocal cord cysts can easily cause hoarseness and stuffiness. Long-term use can cause dysfunction of the heart and other organs. The reason for hoarseness caused by vocal cord cysts is ultimately vocal cord paralysis. It is recommended that you go to the ENT department of a regular hospital for surgical treatment under an electronic laryngoscope. Pay attention to treating complications such as chronic tonsillitis and nasopharyngitis at the same time. 3. First, perform an endoscopic examination to determine the condition of the lower vocal cords. If it is a general inflammation, timely anti-inflammatory atomization will have an ideal effect. If it is other inflammation, most of them require treatment. The specific treatment needs to be determined according to the condition of the lesion. 4 The main clinical symptom is hoarseness. The diagnosis of typical vocal cord cysts is relatively simple. Yellow-white bulges can be seen on the surface or edge of the vocal cords under electronic laryngoscopy, and yellow-white cystic fluid can be seen through the mucosa of the vocal cords. However, for deeper vocal cord cysts and giant vocal cord cysts, it is difficult to diagnose them under electronic laryngoscopy. Giant vocal cord cysts are sometimes easily misdiagnosed as vocal cord edema and polypoid changes. 5 For cases that cannot be diagnosed, stroboscopic laryngoscope is helpful for diagnosis. The smaller amplitude of vocal cords, the weakening, discontinuity or disappearance of mucosal waves indicate vocal cord cysts. The surgery for vocal cord cysts has also gone through several stages, including indirect laryngoscope, direct laryngoscope, and supported laryngoscope laryngeal microsurgery. 6 In the late 1990s, with the use of electronic laryngoscopes in China, it attracted many laryngologists with its clear vision. Vocal cord cyst opening surgery (marsupialization surgery) under electronic laryngoscope has the advantages of minimally invasive, no need for general anesthesia, and accurate operation. It has been widely carried out in clinical practice. Through long-term follow-up observation, the efficacy of vocal cord cyst surgery under electronic laryngoscope and laryngeal microsurgery under support laryngoscope is similar. |
