Many people found that the main medicinal ingredient when taking Liuwei Dihuang Pills was raw rehmannia, so people thought that raw rehmannia might have the effect of nourishing the kidneys. 1. Efficacy and Function

1. It has the effect of clearing heat and cooling blood. It is used for febrile diseases with heat entering the blood, high fever, coma, dry mouth and red tongue. Such as Qingying Decoction.

2. For the treatment of late stage of febrile disease, when residual heat has not yet been eliminated, yin fluid has been damaged, patients are hot at night and cool in the morning, with red tongue and rapid pulse, such as Qinghao Biejia Decoction.

3. It can be used to treat febrile diseases with heat entering the blood, excessive heat and toxicity in the blood, vomiting blood, epistaxis, and purple-black macules. Such as Si Sheng Wan.

4. It has the effect of nourishing yin and promoting the production of body fluids. It is used for thirst caused by loss of body fluids and internal heat. It is used to treat damage to yin caused by febrile diseases, dry intestines and constipation, such as Zengye Decoction.

2. Taboo

1. People with dampness in the spleen and stomach and yang deficiency should not take raw rehmannia. Do not touch copper or iron objects.

2. Raw Rehmannia should not be eaten with radish, green onion, leek, and scallion.

3. Additional prescription

1. Shengdi is used to treat typhoid fever and febrile diseases, which should induce sweating but do not occur. It can also treat those with internal blood accumulation, nosebleed, persistent hematemesis, internal blood stasis, yellow face, and black stool: 1 liang of rhinoceros horn, 8 liang of Shengdi, 3 liang of peony root, and 2 liang of peony bark. Decoction in water and divided into three doses. (Rhinoceros Horn and Rehmannia Decoction from Qianjin Yaofang)

2. Raw Rehmannia is used to treat heat and toxicity in the internal organs, which is about to cause red spots: 50 grams of Rehmannia juice. Put the above ingredients in a pot and mix with half a pound of refined lard. Boil for more than ten times. Filter out the residue and add musk and mix well. Take two doses each time, drink it all up. The poison will be excreted from the flesh as sweat and the patient will recover. (Sheng Hui Fang)

3. Shengdi is used to treat fever, initial symptoms of irritability, headache, waist and leg pain: 3 liters of Rehmannia juice, 2 fen of Scutellaria baicalensis, 1 fen of ginger, and half a spoon of white honey. Take the above medicine, grind Scutellaria baicalensis and ginger into small pieces, add a large cup of water and boil until six parts are left. Remove the dregs, add Rehmannia root and honey, and boil for another three or two minutes. Regardless of time, take it in two doses while warm. (Detoxification Drink from Sheng Hui Fang)

4. To treat fever in children, thirst, headache, and persistent high fever: take three doses of Rehmannia glutinosa juice. Add half a cup of raw honey and mix well. Take one cup of it from time to time, and adjust the dosage according to the size of the child. (Sheng Hui Fang)

5. To treat vomiting blood: 1.2 liters of Rehmannia root juice and 1 liang of white glue, put them in a copper container. Steam it to make it disappear. (Single divine prescription from "Yi Xin Fang")

6. Raw Rehmannia is used to treat heat in the small intestine, irritability, and bloody urine: half a liang each of raw Rehmannia root and Imperata root, and two stalks of green onion. Grind the above three ingredients into pieces as big as sesame seeds, add three cups of water, boil until one and a half cups remain, remove the residue, and divide into two portions to take while warm before meals. (Rehmannia Decoction from Shengji Zonglu)

7. To treat heart heat, intestinal wind and internal organ toxic bleeding: grind half a pound of raw Rehmannia root to extract the juice, add 4 ounces of Coptis chinensis, mix the two ingredients evenly and dry them in the sun. Grind the above ingredients into powder and make into pills as big as mung beans with refined honey. Take 20 pills each time, with Ophiopogon japonicus soup after meals.
