The efficacy and function of white buffalo horn

The white buffalo is one of the protected animals in China, and its number is currently relatively small, so the country has adopted a ban on its trafficking, trading and hunting. The reason why white buffalo was hunted in large numbers before is undoubtedly that every part of the white buffalo's body is a treasure, especially its horns. The horns of white buffalo have many medicinal effects in medicine. For example, they can promote detoxification and beauty. They can also be used as combs and other common female items in daily life. They are also valuable collections for collectors. Let’s take a look at the effects and functions of white buffalo horn!

1. Buffalo horn is a substitute for rhinoceros horn in traditional Chinese medicine. It has the functions of clearing away heat, cooling blood, calming the nerves and detoxifying. It is used to treat typhoid fever, epidemic fever, heat entering the blood, shock, irritability, delirium, rashes, jaundice, vomiting blood, epistaxis, bleeding, carbuncles and swelling. Antelope horns. Clears away heat and calms spasms, soothes the liver and extinguishes wind, detoxifies and reduces swelling. It can extinguish wind, stop convulsions, clear the liver, improve eyesight, clear away heat and detoxify, and treat symptoms such as high fever, coma, delirium, madness, epilepsy, convulsions, red and swollen eyes, etc.

Buffalo horns can be used as a substitute for rhino horns because their composition is similar to that of rhino horns:

1. Sterols, all containing cholesterol;

2. Amino acids, including alanine, arginine, aspartic acid, cysteine, leucine, proline, tyrosine, histidine, and valine;

3. Peptides: Alkaline peptides are hydrolyzed, and both produce arginine, lysine, histidine, glycine, and alanine. Proline, valine, leucine, but rhino horn also has aspartic acid;

4. Guanidine derivatives, both of which are arginine and guanidine;

5. Protein: The two horns contain mostly the same proteins, but rhino horns also contain different proteins;

6. Using alumina chromatography, crystals with the same melting point of 215-218°C were separated, which had the effect of exciting isolated frog hearts. In addition, in addition to cholesterol, rhino horn also contains trace amounts of other sterols; buffalo horn does not contain arginine, but contains more guanidine than rhino horn. The decoction of buffalo horn was subjected to electrophoresis, and three ninhydrin-positive substances were obtained. After hydrolysis, cysteine was produced. No other special amino acids were identified. The electrophoresis of the decoction of rhino horn showed roughly the same results. Buffalo horn contains cholesterol, cardiotonic ingredients with a melting point of 215-218°C, peptides and various amino acids. A comparison of the semi-microanalysis of the spectra of amino acids and inorganic substances contained in buffalo horn and rhino horn showed that the two were similar.

2. The diseases that buffalo horn can treat are as follows: ① Treat bleeding: Wash the horns and hoofs of cattle and sheep, put them in a sealed container, burn them to carbonize, grind them into fine powder and sieve them. For internal bleeding, take 2 grams orally three times a day. For external bleeding, sprinkle on the affected area. ②To treat throat congestion and swelling that may cause death: Sand ox horn, burn it, scrape out the ashes, sieve it finely, mix it with wine and take it until it is the size of a date. It can also be mixed with water. If a child feels uncomfortable drinking milk and feels like having a sore throat, you can also apply this ash on the milk and let the child swallow it.
