There is a herb in traditional Chinese medicine that can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, called Northern Liujinu. Although the name does not sound like a Chinese herbal medicine, it is a herbal medicine that is found all over the country. It can help stop bleeding from external injuries. Women's menstrual disorders can also be treated with Northern Liujinu. Northern Liujinu can basically be used together with other medicinal materials to treat diseases, and its medicinal value is relatively wide. However, many people still don’t know much about Northern Liujinu. Here we introduce the effects and functions of Northern Liujinu in detail. Beiliu Jinu is the name of a traditional Chinese medicine. It is the dried whole herb of Yinxingcao, a plant of the Scrophulariaceae family. Harvest in autumn, remove impurities and dry in the sun. This species is 30 to 80 cm long and is covered with short hair. The roots are short, curved and slightly branched. The stem is cylindrical, ribbed, and some have branches on the upper part. The surface is brown or black-brown. It is brittle and easy to break. The cross section is yellow-white and hollow or has white pith. The leaves are opposite, mostly fall off and break, while the intact ones are deeply pinnate and dark green. The raceme is terminal, the flowers have short stalks, the calyx is long tubular, yellow-brown to black-brown, with 10 obvious longitudinal ridges, 5 lobes at the apex, and the corolla is brown-yellow and mostly falls off. The capsule is narrowly ovate-elliptical, slightly shorter than the calyx, and brown-black. The seeds are tiny. Slight odor, light taste. The effects are as follows: 1. Liver-protecting and choleretic effect: The decoction of Yinxingcao was gavaged into mice at 10g/kg and 5g/kg, and liver damage was caused by carbon tetrachloride. The two dose groups of Yinxingcao could reduce serum ALT by about 10g/kg, which was significantly different from the control group. Oral administration of Yinxingcao decoction (6g/kg) or total alkali (350mg/kg) and total flavonoids (2g/kg) extracted from Yinxingcao can significantly reduce the high serum ALT in rats caused by gossypol acetate, but has no obvious effect on carbon tetrachloride-induced liver damage. Oral administration of concentrated decoction of Yinxingcao has a significant choleretic effect on anesthetized dogs and rats. 2. Lowering serum cholesterol: The decoction of Yinxingcao was administered orally at 10g/kg, which had a significant effect in lowering serum cholesterol in normal mice. Antibacterial effect: The water decoction of Yinxingcao has different degrees of antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus, anthrax bacteria, group B Streptococcus, diphtheria bacteria, typhoid bacteria, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Shigella dysenteriae in test tubes. |
