After gastric ulcer surgery, eating small and frequent meals is the principle

Severe gastric ulcers can cause some complications, such as gastric perforation and gastric cancer, which can affect the patient's life safety and require timely surgical treatment. Postoperative diet is also very important. Eat small meals frequently, and eat light, easily digestible foods. Take medication regularly.

1. Diet after gastric ulcer surgery

After gastrectomy, due to the decrease of gastric acid, the peristalsis of the upper small intestine is accelerated, which disrupts the digestive physiological function and affects the absorption of protein and iron, making iron deficiency anemia more likely to occur. Patients can eat some lean meat, fish and shrimp, animal blood, animal liver and kidney, egg yolk, soy products, as well as jujube, green leafy vegetables, sesame paste and other foods rich in protein and iron. 3. Currently used anti-ulcer drugs can heal 75% of ulcers within 4 weeks and 85% to 95% of ulcers within 8 weeks. The relapse rate after drug treatment is also decreasing. 3. Precautions for gastric ulcer

1. Pay attention to food hygiene: Not paying attention to food hygiene, being picky eaters, eating too little, not knowing when to eat or not being hungry or full, or eating too much cold drinks and cold food, or being addicted to spicy foods such as chili peppers, strong tea, coffee, etc., can all lead to gastrointestinal digestive dysfunction and are not conducive to the healing of ulcers. Paying attention to food hygiene, eating three meals a day at regular times and in regular amounts, eating in moderation, and chewing slowly are good habits that promote ulcer healing.

2. You must insist on taking medication for a long time: Since gastric ulcer is a chronic disease and is prone to recurrence, you must insist on taking medication for a long time to ensure its complete healing. Do not stop taking the medicine suddenly if the symptoms improve slightly, and do not change your mind frequently, switching to another medicine after taking a certain medicine for just a few days if the symptoms do not improve. Generally speaking, a course of treatment requires taking medication for 4 to 6 weeks, and after the pain is relieved, consolidation treatment must be continued for 1 to 3 months, or even longer.
