What is stomach pain after meals?

For humans, eating and sleeping are important ways to maintain vital signs. Eating can not only increase satiety and boost spirits, but also replenish the elements needed by the human body and enhance resistance. The food the human body eats will be briefly digested and absorbed in the stomach, and then enter the small intestine and large intestine for further digestion. Many people have experienced stomach pain after meals. What is going on?

What is stomach pain after meals?

1. Biliary tract disease

If you experience right upper abdominal distension and pain radiating to the right shoulder after eating greasy food, you may be suffering from cholecystitis or cholelithiasis. People who like to eat greasy food, are obese, or skip breakfast should pay more attention. Therefore, a light diet, weight loss, and regular breakfast are very important to stay away from this disease.

2. Abdominal diseases

People who experience abdominal pain that occurs or worsens when they are hungry or at night and is relieved after eating mostly have duodenal ulcers. If you have diarrhea after eating spicy, greasy, or cold food, drinking alcohol, or right after a meal, and some people have abdominal pain and intestinal rumbling during or before diarrhea, and the abdominal pain will be relieved after diarrhea, then it may be intestinal dysfunction. Of course, it is best to do a stool examination or colonoscopy first to rule out intestinal infection or organic intestinal lesions.

3. Stomach diseases

If you have stomach pain after eating or when you are hungry, or feel bloating and belching after eating, you may have gastritis. If stomach pain occurs or worsens after a meal, you should consider whether you have a gastric ulcer. For such patients, the pain may be relieved after eating alkaline foods, such as steamed bread and alkaline noodles.

If you experience heartburn, belching, or pain behind the sternum after a meal (more obvious when lying flat or bending forward or when abdominal pressure increases), consider gastroesophageal reflux disease. People of this type should avoid eating too much and eat more liquid food.

If you experience stomach discomfort or increased bloating and belching after a meal (especially if you move or stand after a meal), and the symptoms improve after lying down, then you should consider gastroptosis, especially if you are thin. These people are not suitable for "walking a hundred steps after a meal". They should eat small meals frequently, lie down and rest for 30 to 60 minutes after a meal, and should not do strenuous exercise.

There are also a small number of people who have had a history of stomach problems in the past, but recent symptoms do not follow the original regularity and characteristics, or they become hungry or full easily, and their complexion and physical strength are getting worse. In this case, you should be more vigilant, as it may be a sign of stomach cancer.

We should always pay attention to the prevention and treatment of stomach diseases, and daily stomach care is crucial. In addition, it is important to always have some effective medicines at home in case of emergency.
