Ribbon Dendrobium fimbriatum Hook.: The stem is thick, oblique or loose, hard in texture, cylindrical or sometimes slightly spindle-shaped at the top, without branches, and with most nodes. Leaves are arranged in two rows, whorled, and are oblong or oblong-lanceolate. The raceme is 5-15 cm long, with 6-12 carnations sparsely; the flowers are orange-yellow, thin, continuous, and slightly fragrant; the flowers are oblong-oval, 1.2-1.9 cm long, 7-10 mm wide, obtuse at the apex, slightly etched at the edges, with 5 veins; the lip is darker in color than the calyx and flowers, nearly annular, 15-20 mm long, with dark purple patterns on both sides of the tip and narrowed into claws about 3 mm long, with complex ribbons on the edges. Flowering period is April to June.

1. Shape characteristics

The stem of Dendrobium officinale is thick, oblique or loose, hard in texture, cylindrical or sometimes slightly fusiform at the tip, 50-100 cm long, 8-12 (-20) mm thick, without branches, with most nodes, light yellow or light brown after drying, with nodes 3.5-4.8 cm long and with most longitudinal grooves. Leaves are in two rows, whorled, oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 8-15.5 cm long, 2-3.6 cm wide, with acute apex, sometimes slightly 2-lobed, and with a leathery sheath at the tip that embraces the stem.

It is highly ornamental, with elegant flowers, pleasing to the eye, brightly colored flowers and fragrant scent. It is known as one of the "four great ornamental foreign flowers". It can be used as fresh cut flowers or as potted plants for appreciation. Having several pots at home will make it very lively. Stem (Dendrobium officinale): sweet, cold in nature. It nourishes the stomach, produces fluid, quenches thirst, nourishes yin and clears away heat. It is used for damage to yin and deficiency of body fluid, dry mouth and tongue, thirst and loss of appetite, food stagnation and nausea, virtual fire after illness, and blurred vision.
