1. Shape characteristics

The butterfly flower Dendrobium officinale is an evergreen plant that parasitizes woody plants. The main stem has a pseudobulb. The stem is thick, upright, and has longitudinal grooves. The leaves are symbiotic, rectangular to lanceolate, with sharp apex. The leaves are about 20 cm long and 25 cm wide, arranged in whorls, emerald green, and can remain without falling for many years.

The inflorescence head is slightly curved, extending from the top of the perfect pseudobulb and the surrounding nodes. Sometimes a pseudobulb can bloom for many years. Each inflorescence head has 20-30 flowers, which open slowly from top to bottom. The flowers are firm, with short and wide petals, flat and not twisted, much like the flowers of Clivia. They are rich in colors, including white, pink, red, purple and various complex colors.

2. Growth and Development Environment

The main stem of the Butterfly Flower Dendrobium officinale has no obvious dormancy. It is suitable for growing and developing in a warm, humid and bright light environment without sunlight. It is not resistant to severe cold and drought, and avoids exposure to the sun. It can tolerate partial shade. It likes a temperature of 18-35℃ for growth. The temperature at night in winter is best maintained above 15℃, and the temperature during the day is required to be 25-30℃. Only in such an environment with a large temperature difference between day and night can the main stem grow and bloom normally.

3. Key Use Value

The flower shape of Butterfly Flower Dendrobium Officinale is unique and bright, and the flowering period is long. A single flower can bloom for up to one month, and the flowering period coincides with the National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival, which can add a happy atmosphere to traditional festivals. In addition to its appreciation function, Butterfly Flower Dendrobium Officinale is also often used as a flower.
