Pain on both sides of the neck

Pain on both sides of the neck

Neck pain usually occurs in people who often bend their heads to play with their phones. Neck pain is likely to cause headaches, especially periarthritis of the shoulder and cervical spondylosis. Most patients with cervical spondylosis may not be cured after long-term treatment, because cervical spondylosis is the same as lumbar disc herniation. Therefore, when the neck is sore, you must move in time. So what should you do when your neck is sore?

It is more common in cervical spondylosis. Cervical disc herniation is divided into 5 types:

1: Radiculopathy, characterized by radiating pain and sensory disturbance in the upper limbs, numbness, allergy, poor mobility, and difficulty in fine movements of the fingers. Limited neck movement, tenderness in the neck and shoulders, positive nerve root stretch test and pressure test, skin pain hypersensitivity in the early stage, reduction or disappearance in the late stage, and weakened muscle strength.

2: Spinal cord type, with a variety of symptoms, including sensory, motor, and autonomic dysfunction, as well as manifestations of spinal nerve and blood vessel involvement: weakness in the lower limbs, clumsy gait, easy to fall, sensory impairment from bottom to top, limb numbness, unstable standing, tremor and position sense impairment, fear of cold, soreness, edema and urinary and bowel disorders, active or reduced tendon reflexes in the upper limbs, and hyperactivity of the lower limbs.

3: Sympathetic nervous system type, head symptoms: dizziness, headache, migraine, neck pain, eye symptoms: drooping eyelids, blurred vision, heart symptoms: accelerated heartbeat, bradycardia, precordial pain, peripheral symptoms: cold limbs, numbness, excessive or insufficient sweating of hands and feet, other symptoms: tinnitus, deafness, etc.

4: Vertebral artery type: headache, dizziness, transient cerebral ischemia symptoms: such as vertigo, nausea, vomiting, tinnitus, blurred vision, transient spinal cord ischemia symptoms: sudden numbness of limbs, fatigue and even falling, other symptoms: hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, blurred vision,

5: Mixed type, with two or more of the above symptoms and signs present at the same time.

Treatment recommendations:

1: Non-surgical treatment: frontal occipital sling traction (for nerve root type), physical therapy and massage, local blockade, cervical brace therapy, oral Chinese or Western medicine

2: Surgical treatment: Indications: Spinal cord type cervical disc herniation, vertebral artery type patients who are not responsive to non-surgical treatment, nerve root type patients, patients with recurrent disease. Prevention of cervical spondylosis

1. Strengthen the training of neck and shoulder muscles. During breaks or after work, do flexion, extension and rotation of the head and upper limbs, which is clinically called the "M" exercise. It can not only relieve fatigue, but also develop muscles and enhance toughness, which is beneficial to the stability of the cervical spine and enhance the ability of the neck and shoulders to adapt to sudden changes in the neck.

2. Avoid the bad habit of sleeping with a high pillow, which causes the head to bend forward, increasing the stress on the lower cervical spine and possibly accelerating cervical degeneration.

3. Cervical spondylosis rehabilitation exercises can improve the blood circulation of the patient's neck and loosen the soft tissues of adhesion and spasm. Many movements in cervical spondylosis rehabilitation exercises have unique therapeutic effects on cervical spondylosis; they can play a preventive role for those without cervical spondylosis.
