Causes, treatments and prevention of blisters at the corners of the mouth

Many people have experienced blisters at the corners of their mouths. This is one of the symptoms of oral herpes, which is usually caused by a viral infection. This symptom is most common among people who suffer from "heatiness". Herpes labialis can cause great pain to the patient and requires prompt treatment. There are many ways to treat it, the most common of which is medication. In addition, there are some ways to prevent herpes labialis. Below, I will introduce you to some relevant knowledge about oral herpes.

1. What is the reason for blisters at the corners of the mouth?

In daily life, many people will encounter sores at the corners of their mouths and small blisters. This is oral herpes. Oral herpes is caused by infection with the herpes simplex virus, which is called "getting angry" in traditional Chinese medicine. It is prone to occur on the lips and corners of the mouth. It is often caused by colds, fever, fatigue, lack of sleep, depression, tension and anxiety, which lead to a decrease in immunity and the herpes virus lurking in the body to multiply, resulting in blisters at the corners of the mouth and the onset of the disease. It starts with a burning sensation, followed by clustering of blisters, erosions, and scabs. The course of the disease is about a week and may relapse.

Oral herpes often appears as small needle-sized blisters on the lip mucosa, usually in a group, or in two or three groups. The patient will feel a mild burning sensation and may heal on his own in about a week, but may also recur. If herpes occurs due to improper adjustment of the body's immune mechanism, or if secondary infection occurs after rupture, the course of the disease will be prolonged.

2. Treatment of mouth blisters

General antiviral drugs, such as ribavirin and viracil, can be used to treat herpes simplex, but acyclovir is the most effective among them. Acyclovir has a special affinity for viruses and plays a role in inhibiting viral replication.

1. Use 5% acyclovir ointment or 0.1% bubble cream externally, and apply it alternately with dermatitis cream for better results. If there is infection, add chloramphenicol ointment.

2. Ribavirin injection (viravirin) wet compress: Use medical cotton balls or cotton swabs, or a small piece of gauze to soak in ribavirin injection and apply it to the affected area for 15 minutes each time, 3 to 5 times a day.

3. Take Chinese medicine for clearing heat and detoxifying, such as Niuhuang Jiedu Tablets, Xiaoyan Jiedu Pills, etc. orally.

3. Prevent recurrence of herpes labialis:

1. Ensure adequate sleep, eat more fresh vegetables, supplement various vitamins, and drink plenty of water to enhance the body's immunity and prevent the occurrence of herpes.

2. Strengthen oral hygiene, rinse your mouth with light salt water after eating, rinse your teeth with salt water before going to bed, and rinse your mouth. The effect is very good. Do not eat after brushing your teeth. Change your toothbrush frequently to avoid virus residue on the toothbrush, which may cause multiple herpes outbreaks

3. Avoid eating foods rich in arginine, such as chocolate, cola, peas, cereals, peanuts, cashews, beer, etc.

4. Exercise can strengthen the immune system, relax the mind, avoid tension and relieve stress, which is helpful in preventing and treating the recurrence of herpes simplex.
