Polygonum cuspidatum is also known as sour barrel pole, sour barrel reed, big bone straightening root, and spotted root. The stem is upright, 1-2 meters high, thick, hollow, with prominent longitudinal ridges, small protrusions, and no hairs. It is produced in southern Shaanxi Province, southern Gansu Province, East China, East China, and South China. The rhizome has medicinal value and has the effects of promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, dredge meridians, and relieving cough.

The efficacy and function of Japanese knotweed

It can dispel wind, clear heat and dampness, disperse blood stasis and relieve pain, resolve phlegm and relieve cough. It is used for pain in bones and joints, jaundice caused by cold and dampness, liver depression and kidney deficiency, abdominal masses, burns caused by fire or water, injuries from falls, carbuncles, ulcers, and cough with sputum.

Side effects of knotweed

Specific symptoms include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Excessive dehydration often leads to coma, physical exhaustion, and shock. Long-term use can cause low platelets and false bleeding tendency. Large doses can cause liver damage, abnormal liver function, leukocytopenia, and a small amount of hematuria. Side effects: Polygonum cuspidatum contains rhubarb, tannins and a variety of phenolic compounds, which are toxic. Excessive intake may irritate the gastric mucosa and cause reactions. Side effects prevention, treatment and rescue

1. After taking too much, vomit, wash the stomach, take charcoal with medicinal value to absorb harmful substances, and treat diarrhea. Glucose saline was given intravenously and medication was used.

2. Treatment with traditional Chinese medicine: 1) 15g tea leaves, appropriate amount of old brown sugar, 12g scorched hawthorn, decoct in water and take frequently. 2) 15g dried mei, 9g raw sanguisorba officinalis, 3g gallnut, appropriate amount of old brown sugar, decocted into a decoction and taken orally. 3) In case of abdominal pain or diarrhea, take 15g of Radix Paeoniae Rubrae, 9g of Radix Linderae, 9g of Radix Scutellariae, 9g of Rhizoma Corydalis, 3g of Radix Aucklandiae (added last), 9g of Radix Patchouli, 9g of Radix Glycyrrhizae, and 6g of Radix Bupleuri. Boil them in water twice and combine them together. Take once every 6 hours. Take the whole dose in 2 doses. 4) In case of shock, inject Shengmai injection intravenously, 6-10mL each time. It has the effects of dispelling wind, clearing heat and removing dampness, dispersing blood stasis and relieving pain, resolving phlegm and relieving cough.
