Is it normal to have chest pain before menstruation?

People are very aware of changes in their bodies. If there is any small problem, they will notice it clearly and find ways to treat it. Menstruation is a very familiar thing for women, because every woman will experience menstruation, and menstruation is a physiological reaction that comes on time every month. However, some people feel pain in the chest during menstruation, and many people think it is a result of menstruation. Is my chest pain before my period caused by menstruation? Is this a normal phenomenon?

Why do breasts swell before menstruation?

This is mainly caused by increased estrogen levels in the body, breast hyperplasia, cell enlargement, and edema of breast interstitial tissue 1 to 2 weeks before menstruation. When menstruation comes, the estrogen level in a woman's body decreases, the breasts become soft and loose, and the swelling and pain gradually disappears. Therefore, breast tenderness before menstruation is a relatively normal phenomenon.

Having said that, we cannot neglect breast care. Since many gynecological diseases can also cause symptoms of breast tenderness, we should take premenstrual breast tenderness seriously and treat it through effective methods.

If breast pain is really uncomfortable, you can try hot compress. Hot compress can promote blood circulation and unblock meridians, which can help relieve the pain. To do this, wrap a hot water bottle with a towel and apply it to your chest. In addition to hot compresses, girls can also massage their breasts with their hands one week before their period to promote blood and lymph circulation. The specific method is to first gently wrap one breast with the palms of both hands from both sides, then tighten your hands, and use the thumbs at the base of the breasts to push the breasts upward from the bottom, repeating 10 times on each side.

Studies have shown that quitting coffee can help relieve breast pain, so girls should drink less coffee in their daily lives. In addition, it is best not to eat cool or icy foods one week before menstruation, so as not to cause poor blood flow in the body and aggravate the symptoms of breast pain. Because the body is relatively afraid of cold and more likely to catch a cold during menstruation, girls should be careful not to wash their hair with cold water and keep warm during menstruation to avoid blood circulation problems, which may lead to breast pain.
