Urticaria and Immunity

Urticaria and Immunity

Although urticaria is a common skin disease in life that occurs in most people, many people do not have a clear understanding of the causes of urticaria. A large amount of medical research has shown that urticaria is related to many reasons. It is said that people with low immunity are more likely to develop urticaria, so is there an inevitable connection between urticaria and immunity?

Is the cause of urticaria really related to low immunity? We conducted random interviews on the streets of Wuhan, and heard two completely different voices. So what is the cause of urticaria? This disease is indeed related to immunity, but urticaria is not simply caused by low immunity, but by a disorder of the immune system.

There are dozens of types of cells involved in immunity. Urticaria is caused by a type of cell in our body called mast cells. When a foreign antigen appears, mast cells become unstable and their reactivity increases, which easily leads to the release of histamine inside the mast cells, causing vasodilation and plasma exudation to form wheals. Then histamine stimulates the nerve endings to cause itching and urticaria.

In addition, there are some other factors, such as infection, which is also a common cause of urticaria. In addition, some chronic diseases are also likely to cause the occurrence of urticaria. For example, some rheumatic autoimmune diseases and some blood diseases may induce the occurrence of urticaria. The symptoms of urticaria are not only manifested on the skin, but in severe cases can also endanger other organs of the body.

Urticaria is divided into many types due to different causes. If there is a clear cause, just avoid contact with the cause and it will generally heal within 2-4 weeks. If the disease lasts for more than 6 weeks, it will become chronic urticaria.

In fact, about 90% of the cases we see clinically are chronic urticaria. Chronic urticaria is relatively difficult to treat, and in about 70% of cases it is difficult to find the cause. The most important treatment is antihistamine treatment. We use antihistamines to bind to the protein that histamine wants to bind to first, so the histamine cannot bind to it and it will not have the stimulating effect. That is why it is called an antihistamine.

That is to say, there are many reasons that lead to urticaria. In addition to immune system disorders, it may also be caused by some chronic diseases or blood diseases!

So we often say that when you get sick, you must go to a regular hospital to find out the cause of the illness. If you are not sure, do not take immunity-boosting drugs without authorization, as this may backfire.
