Does ginseng have the same effect as ginseng?

Ginseng is a well-known medicinal material, and its effects and functions have long been well known to everyone. It can be seen that ginseng has a very high status in life. There are many edible parts of ginseng, and the trunk and ginseng beard are the main parts. Among them, the nutritional value of ginseng beard is extremely high, which is not inferior to the trunk. Let’s take a look at whether the effects of ginseng beard and ginseng are the same? I hope everyone can understand it.

Do ginseng and ginseng root have the same effect?

The difference between ginseng root and ginseng

In the eyes of ordinary people, the medicinal value of ginseng root is of course much higher than that of ginseng beard, so the price of ginseng root is much more expensive than that of ginseng beard. In fact, this understanding is not correct. Research has found that the main active ingredient of ginseng is ginsenoside (pronounced dai, falling tone). The reason why ginseng has various magical functions such as strengthening, immunity and regulation is not unrelated to ginsenoside. Tests show that the contents of ginsenosides in the taproots of red ginseng and white ginseng are 2.5% and 2.1% respectively, while in the ginseng roots of red ginseng and white ginseng, the contents are as high as 9.74% and 9.25% respectively. In other words, the amount of ginsenosides in the ginseng roots is more than three times that of the taproots.

From this we can see that ginseng roots have better functions and ginseng whiskers are more expensive. Why does the content of active ingredients in ginseng roots appear to be higher than that in taproots? Because ginsenosides are mainly found in the periderm and cortex of ginseng, while the ginsenoside content in the fleshy pith is almost zero. In other words, thin and long ginseng whiskers have more skin and less flesh, and thus have a higher ginsenoside content, while thick and fat ginseng roots have more flesh and less skin, and thus have a relatively lower ginsenoside content. Therefore, when taking ginseng as a tonic, you might as well use more ginseng whiskers. This is both economical and affordable, and can also achieve the same therapeutic effect as ginseng.
