What causes left ankle pain?

Young people nowadays often travel back and forth for work, so they often feel tired, among which ankle pain is a common symptom. In the eyes of many people, ankle pain may be caused by fatigue or injury to the muscles and bones. In fact, it is not that simple. Many times, ankle pain is caused by certain diseases. Let’s take a look at the causes of left ankle pain.

Ankle pain

Ankle pain refers to damage to the articular cartilage caused by strenuous exercise, excessive plantar flexion, dorsiflexion, and eversion and valgus of the ankle joint.

Causes

Cause: The cause and pathogenesis of the disease is the action of external force, which damages the tendons, muscles and bones, leading to obstruction of meridians and stagnation of Qi and blood.

Pain originates from the extra-articular soft tissues in the following areas:

1. Posterior tibial tendon sheath below the medial malleolus

2. Peroneal tenosynovitis at the posterior and inferior part of the lateral malleolus

3. Damage to the tarsal sinus fat pad

4. Damage to the attachment of the anterior ankle joint

5. Fat pad behind the ankle (i.e. behind the heel). [1]

prevention

Prevention: Acupuncture and massage for joint pain

1. Blood-pricking

Method: Routinely disinfect the numb fingers (toes), select a three-edged needle or a No. 28 short filiform needle and quickly insert it, then pull it out immediately, squeeze from the proximal end to the distal end, bleed 2 to 3 drops, then gently press with a cotton ball for a while, and do this every other day.

2. Massage

Acupoint pressing method: Press the Quepen, Zhongfu, Jianzhen, Jianyu, Tianzong, Jiquan, Quchi, Hegu and other acupoints, twist and pluck with fingers for about 5 minutes to stimulate the meridian Qi and produce soreness, numbness and swelling.

Massage method: Roll the shoulders to relax the muscles. Apply the rolling method to the affected shoulder, focusing on the painful point, for about 5 minutes.

Holding, rubbing and massaging the tendons: Use both hands to rub the affected shoulder and arm for about 5 minutes, and then use your thumbs to apply massaging technique to the painful points.

Shoulder shaking and arm pulling: Fix the affected shoulder with one hand, hold the wrist with the other hand, and perform relief exercises in all directions.

Lift arms and shake shoulders: Hold the patient's wrists with both hands, first lower shoulders and bend elbows, then shake forward and diagonally upward, repeat 10 times, and end with rubbing arms and relaxing shoulders.

Guidance method: Lift shoulders and circle head: The affected arm makes circular motion along the circumference of the head. Standing Cloud Hands: Perform the Cloud Hands movement in Tai Chi. Raise your arm and reach high: Stand upright against a wall and repeatedly reach high with your affected arm. Feel the spine from the back: Extend the affected arm and feel the spinous process from the back. Do the above 4 methods 10 times each, 3 times a day.
