Female hormones are estrogens, and the types of drugs are as follows

1. Natural estrogens: basically natural estrogen preparations secreted by the body, including estradiol (E2), estrone (E0), and estriol (E3). They are closely related to the body's metabolic processes and the development and maintenance of secondary sexual characteristics.

2 Semi-synthetic estrogens: drugs with estrogenic activity that are synthesized by artificially removing or adding certain groups to the basic structure of steroid hormones, such as ethinyl estradiol and nialstradiol.

3. Synthetic estrogens: also called non-steroidal estrogens. The basic structure of this type of drug is not the framework structure of steroids, but they have estrogenic activity, such as diethylstilbestrol.

4 Preparations and characteristics of estrogen drugs

Natural estrogen preparations

(1) 17β-estradiol: The trade name is Nocoquinol, which is micronized natural human 17β-estradiol, tablet: 1 mg/tablet.

(2) Estradiol valerate: The trade name is Progynova, which is a long-acting estradiol derivative, namely the valerate ester of estradiol. It is slowly released after intramuscular injection, and its effect lasts for 2 to 4 weeks. Injection: 5mg/1ml, 10mg/1ml; Tablet: 1mg/tablet.

(3) Pregnant mare's estrogen: Its trade name is Premarin, which is a conjugated estrogen. It is a water-soluble natural conjugated estrogen extracted from the urine of pregnant horses. The main ingredient is sodium estrone sulfate. Tablets: 0.3 mg/tablet, 0.625 mg/tablet. (4) Estradiol benzoate: One of the most commonly used estrogen preparations, it is a benzoate ester of estradiol, an oil solvent, for intramuscular injection, and its effect lasts for 2 to 5 days. Injection: 1mg/1ml, 2mg/1ml.

(5) Estradiol cypionate: a long-acting estrogen preparation, which is the cypionate ester of estradiol. Its effect is stronger and more lasting than that of estradiol valerate, and lasts for 3 to 4 weeks. Injection: 1mg/ml, 2mg/1ml, 5mg/1ml, for intramuscular injection.

(6) Estriol: Tablets: 1 mg/tablet, 5 mg/tablet; Injection: 10 mg/1 ml; Topical: Topical cod liver oil preparation containing E3 0.01%.
