What to do if you have Parkinson's

Parkinson's is a common neurodegenerative disease in the middle-aged and elderly people. It is also the most common extrapyramidal disease in the middle-aged and elderly people. The incidence of this disease will increase with age. The main manifestations are tremors, movement disorders, and balance problems, etc. Therefore, at this time, you must pay attention to actively receive treatment. Let's take a look at the methods of Parkinson's treatment.

Parkinson's disease is a common neurological disease in the elderly. And it will become more serious as time goes by. In fact, in addition to taking medication in life, decisions will also be made based on the condition of the disease, so even if you are receiving treatment, you need to pay attention to the doctor's advice.

(1) Drug treatment: In the early stages of the disease, drugs can effectively improve symptoms. The most commonly used and effective drug is levodopa preparation (trade name: Madopar or Sinemet). It has been used in clinical treatment since the 1960s and has been the most core drug in clinical practice until now. The medication must be taken long-term; once treatment is stopped, the condition will relapse. Drug treatment is most effective in the first few years. Although long-term use is still effective for most patients, after long-term use, patients will feel that the effective time of the drug is shortened, and some patients will experience "end of dose" and "on and off" fluctuations. Drug treatment has certain limitations. Usually after 3-5 years of treatment, the condition will become difficult to control, the side effects of the drugs will offset their efficacy, and patients will feel that their ability to live daily life is greatly restricted.

2) Surgical treatment: There are mainly two methods: neuron nucleus cell destruction surgery (cytokine) and electrical stimulation surgery. The principle is to inhibit the abnormal activity of brain cells to achieve the purpose of improving symptoms. The former is to create a lesion with a diameter of about 3 mm on the abnormally active nerve nucleus, while the latter is to implant a stimulator to achieve a similar lesion effect through high-frequency electrical stimulation. From a surgical operation technical point of view, there is not much difference between the two. Both involve placing electrodes on specific brain nuclei target points and then stimulating or destroying them. The biggest disadvantage of nerve nucleus cell destruction surgery is that it is prone to recurrence and is an irreversible treatment, while electrical stimulation surgery is a reversible and adjustable treatment method. my country is in the leading position internationally in the surgical treatment of Parkinson's disease. In 1997, the "boundary positioning method" created by Professor Gao Guodong of the Fourth Military Medical University won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Invention Award. This method directly improved the accuracy of surgery and reduced complications, making surgical treatment a real option for patients with mid- to late-stage Parkinson's disease.

The above is about the treatment of Parkinson's disease. From these materials, we can see that drug treatment and surgical treatment are generally adopted in life, but in addition to these, some of our daily health care also needs to be paid attention to, such as healthy diet and bad living habits must be abandoned.
