Causes of facial swelling

Causes of facial swelling

I believe many friends have experienced swollen faces, especially when they drink too much water at night. It is easy to have a swollen face when they wake up the next morning. However, I need to remind you that some friends often have swollen faces. If this is the case, it is very likely caused by certain diseases, so you need to pay more attention to your body.

Clinically, the most common cause of facial swelling is kidney disease. Many patients with nephritis often experience facial swelling. Of course, kidney disease is not the only disease that causes facial swelling. Here, we will analyze the causes of facial swelling for you.

The reason for the swollen face: the main reason is the lack of high-quality protein, because human cells are composed of 70% water, 28% protein, 2% fat, and 1% sugar. When your protein is lacking, your cells will have a lot of water, which will cause edema. So you must supplement high-quality protein, but you can go to the hospital for a check-up before that.

Key points to consider: kidney disease, hypertension, heart disease, endocrine, electrolyte disorders, etc. If nothing can be found, you can go to the allergy department (don’t be afraid of the name, just think of it as the allergy department). In old age, not only does your appearance appear old, but the functions of your internal organs are also declining. The main reasons are the decrease in cardiac blood output, the decrease in renal blood flow, the relaxation of subcutaneous tissue, the decrease in water evaporation from the skin, the reduction in cell volume, and the flow of fluid in the cells to the interstitial space outside the cells, resulting in edema.

Because the lower part of the human body is affected by the earth's gravity, edema is more obvious. If you stand for too long, edema will become more obvious. Diseases of internal organs can also cause edema, which is disease-induced edema. At this point, edema is just a symptom of the disease. Although many diseases can cause edema, the patterns of edema occur differently in different diseases. For example, when heart disease causes chronic right heart failure, edema starts from the ankles of the lower limbs and gradually spreads to the whole body; in cirrhosis of the liver, edema occurs first in the lower limbs, then ascites appears, and finally edema occurs throughout the body. Patients with kidney disease may also experience lower limb edema.

After knowing the cause of your swollen face, if it is not caused by certain diseases, it is relatively simple to eliminate it. You only need to drink less water before going to bed at night, ensure adequate sleep, and pay attention to your diet to eliminate the swelling of your face. However, if it is caused by certain diseases, you need to cure the disease first.
