Bloodshot eyes Chinese medicine diagnosis

Bloodshot eyes Chinese medicine diagnosis

If our eyes have bloodshot, we generally choose some hot compress methods to relieve them. In addition to hot compress, we also use some eye drops. Few people go to a traditional Chinese medicine clinic for treatment just because they have red bloodshot eyes. In fact, there are still many ways to treat this situation in traditional Chinese medicine. So, how does traditional Chinese medicine view red blood streaks?

Red and bloodshot eyes are mostly the result of excessive liver fire. People who stay up late need to overdraw their liver fire to maintain their energy, which leads to excessive liver fire. The liver opens up to the eyes, so there are bloodshot eyes after staying up late. Alcohol damages the liver because it is very hot, causing large amounts of blood to rush to the head and body. As a result, the liver blood is overdrawn, and the liver fire is hyperactive, so drunk people often have red faces and eyes. If you don't drink alcohol or stay up late, but your eyes are still often bloodshot, it means you have excessive liver fire. The eyes are the orifices of the liver, and the essence of the five internal organs is all injected into the eyes. The parts of the eyes related to the five internal organs are called the five wheels (see the five wheels and eight frames), so looking into the eyes can not only observe the spirit, but also diagnose diseases of the five internal organs. If the white of the eyes is distinct, the vision is clear, and the spirit is contained in the eyes, it means that there is spirit in the eyes, and the disease is easy to cure. If the white of the eyes is dark and turbid, the black of the eyes is dull, the light is exposed, and the eyes have lost their spirit and the vision is blurred, it means that there is no spirit in the eyes, and the disease is more difficult to cure. Red canthus indicates heart fire, pale canthus indicates blood deficiency; red sclera indicates lung heat, yellow indicates internal damp heat; swollen pupil indicates liver fire; red and wet eyelids indicate spleen fire; redness and swelling of the entire eye indicates wind-heat; bright upper and lower eyelids indicate phlegm and fluid, dark eyelids indicate kidney deficiency. Swollen eye sockets are the initial sign of edema, sunken eye sockets are a sign of internal organ deficiency; bulging eyeballs are mostly caused by goiter. If the pupil changes color, a film of film forms on the eye, and vision becomes unclear, it may be an eye disease such as cataract or external cataract. If the pupil is dilated, it means kidney essence is depleted, which is seen in near-death crisis, chlorosis, or certain poisonings; if the pupil is constricted, it is mostly due to excessive liver and gallbladder fire, false fire disturbance or poisoning. Drooping eyelids are called ptosis, which is caused by congenital deficiency or deficiency of both spleen and kidney, or can also be caused by trauma. Eyes rolling up and looking straight ahead, the disease is more serious, and the child is drowsy and has open eyes, which is common in children with spleen deficiency or chronic spleen wind.

The redness in the eyes can be eliminated by:

1. Keep your eyes clean and eliminate red bloodshot

The appearance of red bloodshot eyes is mostly due to the infection of the eyes by various pathogens, which causes congestion of the blood vessels in the eyes. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure the cleanliness of the eyes. Usually, be careful not to rub your eyes with your hands, because there are a large number of bacteria and fungi on your hands, which can infect the eyes. In addition, you should also avoid wood chips, sand, dust, eye makeup residues, etc. from entering your eyes, otherwise it will cause eye irritation, bacterial infection and inflammation, and become covered with red bloodshot.

2. Cold compress eyes to eliminate red bloodshot

When there are red bloodshot eyes, you can use cold compresses to shrink the blood vessels around the eyes, moisturize the eyes, and alleviate the symptoms of red bloodshot eyes. The specific method is: close your eyes, use a cold towel or ice cubes wrapped in a towel, and apply it to your eyes for 10-15 minutes, twice a day. You can also use an ice pack specifically for the eyes. After it is chilled in the refrigerator, apply it directly to your eyes to soothe them.

3. Avoid eye fatigue and eliminate red bloodshot eyes

Do not face the computer or TV for a long time, or read or write, etc. This will cause great harm to the eyes, make the eyes overly tired, cause blood vessels to dilate, and cause red bloodshot eyes. In this case, simply giving your eyes a rest can alleviate the symptoms of red bloodshot eyes. Therefore, you should relax and take a break every hour when using your eyes. You can close your eyes and rest for 10 minutes, or look into the distance, blink more often, etc., which can relieve eye fatigue.

4. Massage around the eyes to eliminate red bloodshot

Massage the area around the eyes for 10 minutes every day, 3-5 times a day, or do eye exercises. You can massage the Zanzu, Jingming, Sibai, temples and other acupoints. Such gentle massage can stimulate the acupoints around the eyes, promote blood flow, help enhance the elasticity of capillaries, reduce the condition of red blood streaks, and also have a health care effect on the eyes.

5. Eye drops to eliminate red bloodshot eyes

Using eye drops to treat red bloodshot eyes is also an effective way. You can choose eye drops that can remove red bloodshot eyes according to the doctor's instructions. Apply 1-2 drops 1-2 times a day to relieve the symptoms of red bloodshot eyes. Before applying eye drops, be sure to wash your hands with soap or hand sanitizer to prevent bacteria from your hands from entering your eyes and causing infection.

6. Supplement carotenoid foods

Foods containing carotenoids are very helpful in eliminating red bloodshot eyes and can also protect eyesight. Carotenoid foods mainly come from orange and green vegetables, such as spinach, carrots, pumpkin, leek, pea sprouts, rapeseed, shepherd's purse, amaranth, etc., which are rich in carotenoids. Fruits such as apricots, peaches, oranges, and persimmons also contain carotenoids.
