What is hernia?

Hernia is common in children. Hernia means that the original tissue or organ of the human body moves to another part. There are many causes of hernia. For example, some children may develop hernia if they cough frequently or exert too much force. Surgery is the only solution for hernias. If the disease is not treated, it will cause greater trouble when the child grows up, so it is best to treat the disease as early as possible so that it will not have much impact on the child's future.

Some grandmothers may not understand this aspect very well, or some new parents may not know much about this aspect either. They don’t know what hernia is, and sometimes they may think that hernia is a normal condition. So we should know more about the disease.

hernia,. Commonly known as "small intestinal gas", it includes umbilical hernia, direct inguinal hernia, indirect hernia, incisional hernia, surgical recurrent hernia, white line hernia, femoral hernia, etc. Hernia is mostly caused by increased intra-abdominal pressure due to coughing, sneezing, excessive force, abdominal obesity, forceful defecation, pregnancy, excessive crying in children, degenerative changes in the strength of the abdominal wall in the elderly, etc., which forces the free organs in the abdominal cavity, such as the small intestine, cecum, greater omentum, bladder, ovaries, fallopian tubes, etc., to enter another part through normal or abnormal weak points or defects or gaps in the human body.

Surgery is the only way to cure a hernia and should be done as soon as possible. As the saying goes: "If you don't mend a small hole, you will suffer a big hole." Delaying treatment will only turn a small hernia into a large hernia, and may cause serious complications, such as the inability to reduce the protruding intestine, causing acute intestinal obstruction, or even intestinal perforation, necrosis, peritonitis and death. Generally speaking, hernia is a relatively safe, reliable and less traumatic surgery, and delaying treatment is not worth the cost.

Hernia is caused by a weakness or defect in the abdominal wall, which causes the small intestine and other organs in the abdominal cavity to protrude out of the abdominal wall through this area. Figuratively speaking, it is like there is a hole in the lining of a cotton-padded jacket, and the underwear and woolen clothes inside will be pushed into the potential gap of the cotton layer through the hole. Therefore, hernia surgery is actually a process of "patching the hole".

After a child has undergone hernia surgery, attention should also be paid to postoperative care and nursing to avoid infection or other discomfort symptoms. I believe everyone should understand the above description. Then the next thing is that if we encounter hernia in life, we must go to the hospital for treatment. Don’t be afraid of pain or embarrassed and avoid treatment, as this will affect your future life.
