Preventive measures for rabies

Preventive measures for rabies

Nowadays, as people's living conditions allow, many people choose to keep pets. Keeping a pet dog has become the choice of many people, but in the process of choosing, we must remember that pets can bring some fun to our lives and kill some time. But many times we have not seen pet dogs go crazy. This is because these dogs may go crazy due to some negative factors in life.

If you find a pet dog with rabies around you, you must tie it up to prevent it from harming people. If there are injured patients around you, they should be sent to the hospital in time to avoid being infected with rabies virus. Control the source of rabies infection in a timely manner to prevent it from spreading.

(1) Manage the source of infection: All wild dogs should be captured and killed. Hunting dogs, police dogs and experimental dogs that must be kept should be registered and vaccinated. If you find a sick dog or cat, kill them immediately to avoid hurting people. Domestic dogs and cats that have bitten people should be captured and isolated for observation for 10 days. Surviving animals that can be confirmed as non-rabid can be released from quarantine. Medical Education Network collected and sorted: The brain tissue of dead animals should be taken for examination and burned or buried deeply. Never skin them or eat them. (B) Wound treatment Early wound treatment is extremely important. After being bitten, the wound should be cleaned thoroughly with 20% soapy water and wiped continuously. Deeper wounds may require insertion of a catheter and continuous irrigation and cleaning with soapy water. If immune serum is available, it can be injected into the bottom and around the wound after a negative skin test. The wound should not be sutured or bandaged. (3) The targets of vaccination are: ① Those bitten by wild animals such as wolves and foxes; ② Those bitten by dogs or cats that became ill and subsequently died (including during the observation period) or are missing; ③ Those bitten by animals that have been shot dead and whose brain tissue has decayed; ④ Those with skin wounds contaminated by rabies saliva; ⑤ Those with wounds on the head or neck, or those with large and deep wounds. If the biting animal (in non-epidemic areas) is still safe and sound after 5 days, the injection can be stopped; ⑥ Medical staff whose skin is contaminated by rabies patients, etc. In recent years, there have been some cases in China where people died from rabies after being bitten, while the dogs were safe and sound. It has been confirmed that the dogs' saliva carried the virus, so people bitten by dogs in endemic areas should be vaccinated. Table 11-8 shows the indications for rabies vaccination.

Rabies is not scary, what is scary is people's laziness. Only if we neglect management, we may not notice some unusual things in our pet dogs, causing them to become sick. Once the disease spreads, it will affect our human health. Therefore, we must consider the pros and cons when choosing a pet dog.
