Why do my legs feel sore when I climb stairs?

In life, people often encounter various problems due to some basic life matters. For example, leg soreness after climbing stairs is a common phenomenon. This phenomenon has a relatively large impact on people's lives because it is related to the basic quality of the body and reflects that there is a problem with the health of the legs and feet. It needs to be solved in time. Let's take a look at why legs feel sore after climbing stairs?

Excessive exercise can cause muscle soreness. Therefore, people who rarely exercise will experience calf pain when they suddenly climb stairs with high intensity.

Muscle soreness can be divided into two types: acute muscle soreness and delayed onset muscle soreness.

Acute soreness disappears immediately after exercise, while the other type is delayed soreness, which usually occurs 12-24 hours after exercise and peaks between 24-72 hours. There is a certain recovery period, about 5-7 days.

Solution for calf pain when climbing stairs: light stretching

Soreness in the calf muscles indicates that the muscles are relatively tense. Proper stretching can reduce the tightness and relieve pain.

practice:

Stand facing the wall, bend over (without bending your waist), and spread your legs forward and backward;

Bend your left leg forward, with your right heel pointing toward the ground, and use your hands to hold the wall for balance (you can put your bent leg on a dumbbell plate, so that your straight leg needs to sink to the ground);

Do the exercise for 60 seconds, rest for 15 seconds, and then switch to the other leg.

Note: This exercise is best performed when you feel the stretch in the deep calf muscles. It is more effective if you use dumbbells.

Solution for calf pain when climbing stairs: muscle massage

Massage can speed up blood circulation, allowing excess lactic acid in the muscles to be carried away by fresh blood. Muscle massage can effectively relieve muscle tension and thus reduce soreness.

Note: When massaging, follow the muscle lines and do not push or press on the joints, otherwise the chance of injury will increase.

Solution for calf pain when climbing stairs: cold compress therapy

Similar to the principle of muscle massage, this method is also intended to give the calf muscles a certain stimulation and rely on external factors to promote the excretion of excess lactic acid.

How to: Apply an ice pack to the sore area for 12-15 minutes. To prevent frostbite on the skin, the ice pack needs to be used through a towel.
