Treatment of drug rash

Treatment of drug rash

I don’t know if you are familiar with the term drug rash. In our lives, drug rash is a very common disease. It is also called drug dermatitis. It is a disease in which we are allergic to drugs. Although this disease is not a major disease, our friends cannot ignore it. Let’s take a look at what good treatments there are for drug rash. Let’s learn about it together.

Drug rash is one of the most common types of allergic reactions. In our lives, when we encounter this disease, we don’t have to panic. We can look at the following methods of treating drug rash. I believe it will be of some help to everyone’s treatment.

1. Treatment principles

(1) Discontinue use of all suspected allergenic drugs and drugs with similar structures.

(2) Drink more water or receive intravenous fluids to promote the excretion of drugs in the body.

(3) Patients with mild symptoms should be given antihistamines, vitamin C and calcium supplements. In severe cases, glucocorticoids should be added. For particularly severe drug rashes, take various measures as early as possible. ① Large doses of glucocorticoids, methylprednisolone for injection, gradually reduce the dose after the condition stabilizes. If necessary, give a high-dose glucocorticoid shock. ②Immunoglobulin for injection is generally used for 3 to 5 days. ③Plasma exchange.

(4) Prevent and control secondary infection.

(5) Supportive therapy, paying attention to fluid replacement and maintaining electrolyte balance.

For patients with mucosal damage, the mucosa should be actively protected, especially the conjunctiva, to prevent corneal opacity and mucosal adhesion. Children should pay attention to the erosion of the glans and foreskin, which may cause foreskin stenosis. You can use 3% boric acid water for cleaning or corticosteroid eye drops every day. Pay attention to oral hygiene and rinse your mouth frequently. You can use 2% sodium bicarbonate solution to rinse your mouth.

2. Local treatment

For mild drug eruptions, local antipruritic and adsorption of erosions can be used to keep the surface clean and heal quickly. For severe drug eruptions, it is best to use dry exposure therapy (under an infrared lamp) or local levonol wet compresses or external application of PC cream, air disinfection, and the use of sterile sheets and bedding.

Drug rash is one of our very common diseases. I believe everyone should have a certain understanding of it now. We don’t have to be very afraid of drug rash, but we can’t ignore it either. We can look at the introduction above for specific treatment methods. At the same time, we can also go to the hospital to actively receive treatment. I believe we will recover soon.
