How to treat habitual constipation

How to treat habitual constipation

In daily life, the most painful thing is not being able to defecate when you want to go to the toilet. This feeling is very uncomfortable. If you do not pay attention and seek treatment to improve it, it will easily develop into habitual constipation over time. This is very painful for us. Therefore, you must pay more attention in daily life. Once constipation occurs, you should seek treatment in time to improve it.

Many people, because of work, study or other reasons, hold back their bowel movements when they feel the urge to defecate. After experiencing this several times, you will gradually feel difficulty and dryness in your bowel movements, which is what we are going to introduce here: "habitual constipation."

Causes of habitual constipation

In some cases, people cannot defecate in time, so they suppress the urge to defecate, use improper posture, and often take laxatives or enema, which makes the rectum lose sensitivity and causes constipation due to feces accumulation for too long. Or constipation may be caused by depression or excessive excitement, bad living habits, lack of sleep, and abnormal colon motility or spasm.

Treatment methods for habitual constipation

1

Develop the habit of going to the toilet at a regular time every day (regardless of whether you have the urge to defecate or not, or whether you can defecate). When you have the urge to defecate, do not hold it in, go immediately. This will help form a conditioned reflex for normal defecation.

2

The diet should increase the intake of coarse vegetables and fruits that are rich in plant fiber, and eat a moderate amount of rough and residue-rich grains, such as standard flour, brown rice, sweet potatoes, mung beans, jelly, potatoes, corn, oatmeal, etc.

3

Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, especially watermelon, bananas, pears, apples, bitter gourd, cucumber, water chestnut, cabbage, celery, loofah, day lily, etc. Eat less high-protein, high-cholesterol foods such as meat and animal offal, and less spicy and irritating foods.

4

Eat some dried fruits rich in oil, such as pine nuts, sesame seeds, walnut kernels, peanuts, etc. Cold boiled water, honey, etc. can also help defecation. Avoid taking medications that may cause constipation and do not abuse stimulant laxatives. Pay attention to the combination of work and rest in life, keep a good mood, and participate in sports regularly. Abdominal massage can also help with bowel movements. The method is to massage in a clockwise direction from the right lower abdomen to the left lower abdomen, once in the morning and once in the evening, 50-100 times each time.
