How long does it take to cure conjunctivitis?

When it comes to conjunctivitis, you may feel unfamiliar with it. But if we talk about another name for conjunctivitis: pink eye. Everyone will understand. A major epidemic of conjunctivitis broke out in Beijing in 1994. Conjunctivitis is clinically divided into vesicular conjunctivitis, epidemic hemorrhagic conjunctivitis, chronic conjunctivitis, gonococcal conjunctivitis, etc. Conjunctivitis is an infectious disease that usually occurs in summer and autumn.

After suffering from conjunctivitis, the eyes will be painful and itchy, and the whites of the eyes will be congested. It is mainly transmitted through contact, so try not to rub your eyes with your hands or sleeves, and wash your hands and eyes frequently. Once you are infected with conjunctivitis, don't be too anxious. With proper treatment and care, you can usually recover in twenty days to one month. However, the healing time varies depending on the specific infection and personal physical condition.

Conjunctivitis is caused by bacterial infection, so it must be treated by using various antibiotic eye drops, commonly used ones are gentamicin, chloromycin and other eye drops. Use eye drops three times a day for about half a month. Because conjunctivitis is highly contagious, isolation is important during treatment. Patients must not go to swimming pools or public baths to avoid infecting others.

During the treatment, pay special attention to eye hygiene, try to develop a good habit of not rubbing your eyes, and watch less TV. The towel you use to wipe your eyes should be disinfected regularly to avoid repeated infection. Also, be sure not to share towels and other items with others. Patients should take a rest and clean their eyes frequently. Patients with conjunctivitis should try to avoid smoking or the stimulation of smoke produced by other people's smoking.

Some patients only have one eye infected with conjunctivitis. In this case, it is important to follow the correct care methods to protect the other healthy eye from being infected. This is also an effective way to speed up the healing time. You can use a hot towel to apply heat to the affected eye for ten to fifteen minutes each time, three to four times a day. In addition, you should strengthen your physical exercise and increase your body's resistance, which will help treat conjunctivitis.
