Bronchitis refers to a chronic, nonspecific inflammation of the trachea, bronchial mucosa and surrounding tissues. Clinically, it is characterized by long-term cough, sputum or wheezing and repeated attacks. Chronic cough, sputum or wheezing, which lasts for 3 months each year for 2 years or more, and recurs repeatedly without other heart and lung diseases. Some patients may develop obstructive pulmonary emphysema and chronic cor pulmonale. The main cause is repeated infection of viruses and bacteria resulting in chronic nonspecific inflammation of the bronchi.

When the temperature drops suddenly, the small blood vessels in the respiratory tract spasm and ischemia, and the defense function decreases, it is conducive to the disease; chronic stimulation such as smoke, dust, and polluted atmosphere can also cause the disease; smoking causes bronchospasm, mucosal mutation, reduced ciliary movement, and increased mucus secretion, which is conducive to infection; allergic factors also have a certain relationship. The trachea and bronchi are two different parts. The trachea usually refers to the main respiratory tube, while the bronchi are the branches at the bottom of the main respiratory tube, just like the relationship between the trunk and the roots below a tree.
