Different characteristics of children's bone development stages

Children's bone development has different characteristics at different stages. We know that bone development is very important for children. It plays an important role in many aspects of a child's height, weight, etc. It helps children grow a slim figure, have a tall stature, etc. In order to promote better bone development in children, we must pay attention to calcium supplementation and vitamin A and vitamin D.

1. Rapid bone development period (0-2 years old);

2. The period of slowed bone development (2-12 years old for boys and 2-10 years old for girls): This is the period of bone nutrition reserve. During this period, bone growth is relatively stable and uniform, and the normal growth rate should be 5-7cm per year. If it is less than 4cm, it is necessary to adjust the bone development. (The adequate reserve of bone nutrition during this period is of great significance to the accelerated bone growth in the later period.)

3. The period of accelerated bone development (12-16 years old for boys and 10-15 years old for girls); it is the period of bone nutrition consumption. Adolescent boys can grow 25-28cm, and girls can grow 23-25cm... Improve the quality of bone growth and accelerate bone growth within a limited growth cycle; or provide sufficient raw materials for bone growth, extend the growth cycle, and give bones more space for growth. (Adequate supply of bone nutrition during this period can accelerate bone growth, while insufficient nutrition supply will affect the normal development of bones.)

4. The low period of bone development (17-18 years old for boys and 16-17 years old for girls); during this period, bone development has reached maturity and bone growth has basically stopped.

The nutrients that affect bone development are as follows:

1. Calcium: 98% of the calcium in the human body is present in bones and teeth. Calcium is the main raw material for human bones. Calcium deficiency in children and adolescents can lead to rickets, pigeon chest, X-shaped legs, O-shaped legs, and short height. At present, the calcium intake of children and adolescents in my country is less than half of the recommended amount, which is seriously insufficient. Therefore, they need to supplement 4 mg per day.

2. Vitamin D: Vitamin D promotes the absorption of calcium. If calcium is taken alone without vitamin D, the human body cannot absorb calcium. It is advisable to supplement 5 micrograms of vitamin D every day to promote calcium absorption.

3. Vitamin A: Vitamin A can promote bone growth and strengthen teeth. If it is deficient, the tooth enamel will become dark and the person will not grow tall. The vitamin A intake of teenagers in my country is only half of the supply, which is generally deficient and affects vision and bone development. Experts recommend a daily supplement of 400 micrograms.

4. Zinc: Zinc deficiency will cause metabolism to be blocked and cell division to stop. If adolescents in the growth and development period are zinc deficient, they will suffer from developmental problems, and severe deficiency can even lead to dwarfism. Experts recommend a daily supplement of 10 mg.
