TCM treatment of active bladder syndrome

Overactive bladder is a disease with frequent urination and urgency as the main symptoms. It often causes patients to urinate frequently, causing nocturia, and sometimes urinary incontinence. It is a common urinary system disease in women. It has a certain relationship with age. The older the age, the higher the incidence rate, which seriously affects the quality of life. Traditional Chinese medicine has a good treatment effect in this regard.

Female OAB falls into the categories of "enuresis", "frequent urination" and "gonococcal disease" in traditional Chinese medicine. The diagnosis of this disease is mainly spleen and kidney Qi deficiency, which may be accompanied by Yin deficiency or dampness and heat. Therefore, traditional Chinese medicine treats this disease by tonifying the spleen and kidneys, and nourishing yin and clearing heat.

The spleen is responsible for transportation and transformation. The spleen can promote the digestion of food and the absorption of essence, and distribute it to the internal organs, meridians, limbs, bones, muscles, and skin. The spleen is associated with the flesh in the body. All muscles in the body need to rely on the water and grain essences transported and transformed by the spleen for nutrition. If the spleen is weak and the spleen's transportation and transformation function is impaired, the muscles will lose the nourishment of the water and grain essences, and the muscles will inevitably lose nutrition and spasm, and lose the ability to control urine. This coincides with the theory of Western medicine. Insufficient kidney qi, abnormal qi transformation, lack of control, and improper opening and closing of the bladder.

It is also one of the main TCM pathogenesis of the disease. Although the disease is located in the bladder, the kidney is a water organ and the bladder is a water organ. The urine storage and urination functions of the bladder depend on the kidney's gasification function, so nourishing the kidney qi is also an important treatment principle. In addition to tonifying the spleen and kidneys, nourishing yin, calming the mind and clearing away heat are also beneficial to relieving symptoms. Nourishing yin helps to relieve the loss of yin fluid in the patient's body, and calming the mind increases the sedative effect on the patient, further alleviating the patient's symptoms of frequent urination and urgency.
