Bleeding in stool during late pregnancy

Bleeding in stool during late pregnancy

For pregnant women, various problems will arise during the ten months of pregnancy. Because when facing the arrival of the baby, people's mental state is highly nervous, coupled with poor eating and sleeping, often causing endocrine disorders in pregnant women. Bloody stools in pregnant women may be one of the reasons. Of course, there are many other reasons for bloody stools in pregnant women. Today, let's talk about what are the causes of bloody stools in pregnant women? What are the symptoms of this problem, and what should we pay attention to in our diet?

1. Cause 1. Hemorrhoids During pregnancy, the uterus enlarges as the fetus grows, which puts pressure on the veins, causing obstruction of rectal venous blood return. The pressure is more obvious in pregnant women with malpositioned fetuses. In addition, due to the reduced activity of pregnant women, gastrointestinal motility slows down, which can easily cause constipation. Defecation requires a lot of abdominal pressure, which aggravates rectal venous congestion, causing the veins in the anus to expand and thicken, twist into a ball, and rupture, bleed, and cause pain, which then develop into hemorrhoids. Severe hemorrhoids can cause bleeding, resulting in blood in the stool. 2. In this case, rectal polyps mainly present with painless stool bleeding. Bleeding occurs during bowel movements and stops after bowel movements. The amount of blood varies, and generally the blood does not mix with feces. However, if the polyps are located high and numerous, they may also mix with feces.

3. Anal fissure Pregnant women often have bloody stools. The bleeding is in the form of blood stains on one side of the stool surface that is not mixed with the stool. Some patients have blood dripping after defecation. To determine whether the above diseases are the cause of bloody stools, an electronic anorectal endoscopy can be used for examination and diagnosis. 4. Upper respiratory tract bleeding Upper gastrointestinal tract bleeding mainly manifests as black stools, often accompanied by other symptoms and signs such as vomiting blood, palpitations, fatigue, anemia, etc. Symptoms of blood in the stool of pregnant women Blood in the stool is mostly immediate bleeding. The blood flows out of the blood vessels and is discharged through the anus with feces in a short time, or flows out directly after defecation. The appearance of the blood flowing out is similar to that of bleeding from external injuries, and its color is bright red, purple red, or dark red. It can coagulate into blood clots after a while. Blood in the stool is just a symptom, not a disease. Blood in the stool of pregnant women is mostly caused by constipation. However, it may also be caused by intestinal diseases, and the symptoms of bloody stools are different for different causes. 1. Hemorrhoids: Internal hemorrhoids of all stages and mixed hemorrhoids can cause bleeding in the stool. Blood in the stool usually occurs during or after defecation, and appears as drops or sprays of blood. The blood is bright red and does not mix with the feces. External hemorrhoids generally do not cause bleeding in the stool. The amount of bleeding from hemorrhoids varies. In mild cases, there is only bleeding in the stool, while in severe cases, there is bleeding from a few milliliters to more than ten milliliters each time. In mild cases, there is intermittent bleeding in the stool, while in severe cases, there is bleeding every time there is a bowel movement. If a pregnant woman eats spicy food, the bleeding will be more serious. 2. Anal fissure: Anal fissure causes blood in the stool, which is bright red. There will be blood stains after dripping or wiping with toilet paper, and there will be severe anal pain after defecation. 3. Rectal and colon polyps: bright red blood, slight pain, blood and stool do not mix. 4. Ulcerative colitis: Bleeding is mixed with mucus or appears as bloody and purulent stools, accompanied by abdominal pain, fever, frequent bowel movements, etc. 5. Rectal cancer: The blood is bright red or dark red and is in the form of drops attached to the surface of the stool. In the late stage, there is often blood and pus in the stool accompanied by symptoms such as anorectal prolapse, weight loss, and changes in bowel habits. 6. Upper respiratory tract bleeding: Black or brown-black stools, also known as tarry stools, are one of the most common symptoms of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Upper gastrointestinal bleeding mainly manifests as black stools, often accompanied by other symptoms and signs such as vomiting blood, palpitations, fatigue, and anemia. If the amount of bleeding is small and the speed is slow, the blood stays in the intestine for a longer time, and the stool discharged is black due to the effect of intestinal fluid; if the amount of bleeding is large and the blood stays in the intestine for a shorter time, the discharged blood is dark red; if the amount of bleeding is particularly large and is discharged quickly, it may also be bright red.
