Acute rhinitis symptoms

Acute rhinitis symptoms

Acute rhinitis has a great impact on the patient's nasal cavity. If the patient does not treat it in time in life, it may cause nasal blockage and other conditions. Therefore, we recommend that everyone should have a certain understanding of the symptoms of acute rhinitis in life. The symptoms of acute rhinitis are similar to those of a runny nose, but it can cause sneezing, body aches, and diarrhea.

The main symptoms of acute rhinitis include dry nasal cavity and congestion of nasal mucosa, and severe acute rhinitis may cause headache, fever, dizziness and diarrhea. I hope everyone can remember the symptoms of acute rhinitis in life.

The incubation period is 1 to 3 days. When the disease starts, there is a burning and itching sensation in the nose, sneezing, and then nasal congestion occurs and gradually worsens, with increased nasal discharge, accompanied by decreased sense of smell and blockage nasal voice. The systemic symptoms vary in severity, most of which include general discomfort, fatigue, low fever, headache, etc. Children's systemic symptoms are more severe than those in adults, and they often have fever, even high fever, and convulsions. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea often occur. When combined with adenoids hypertrophy, nasal congestion is severe and hinders sucking.

1. Early stage (prodromal stage)

The symptoms last about 1 to 2 days, including general body soreness and tiredness, dryness and burning sensation in the nose and nasopharynx, and congestion and dryness of the nasal mucosa. The diagnosis and differentiation of acute rhinitis should be distinguished from the precursor symptoms of certain infectious diseases, such as influenza, measles, scarlet fever, hemorrhagic fever, etc. Because these diseases often begin with the symptoms of acute rhinitis, they are called "acute infectious rhinitis" and should be paid attention to. It must also be differentiated from allergic rhinitis. In case of acute rhinitis, avoid blowing your nose forcefully to prevent the inflammation from spreading and causing otitis media or sinusitis.

2. Acute phase (wet phase)

After about 2 to 7 days, the patient will gradually develop nasal congestion, increased nasal secretions, sneezing and nasal itching, speaking with a blocked nasal voice, and decreased sense of smell. The nasal mucosa is obviously congested and swollen, and the nasal cavity is filled with other or mucopurulent secretions, which may turn into pus. There are varying degrees of fever, dizziness, and headache throughout the body.

3. Late stage (recovery stage)

The nasal congestion will gradually ease and the purulent mucus will also decrease. If no complications occur, it will heal on its own after a few days. The inflammation of complications may also spread downward, causing inflammation of the throat, trachea and lungs.

In order to help everyone better understand the symptoms of acute rhinitis in life, I hope you will understand the content of the article well. Acute rhinitis is mainly divided into early, middle and late stages. Generally, we find its presence in the middle stage, showing symptoms such as nasal congestion.
