What to do if you have a fever due to tuberculosis

A common symptom of pulmonary tuberculosis is persistent fever, in addition to other symptoms such as fatigue, chest pain, cough, and night sweats. Tuberculosis is a contagious disease. After diagnosis, patients need to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude and take appropriate treatment measures in a timely manner. So what should we do if we have a fever due to tuberculosis and how should we treat it? Here are some treatment measures for tuberculosis fever.

Patients with pulmonary tuberculosis do not necessarily have a fever. Many patients with pulmonary tuberculosis now do not have any symptoms and are discovered through physical examinations. Fever is the most common symptom of pulmonary tuberculosis, usually a low-grade fever in the afternoon that can last for several weeks. The fever pattern is irregular, and some patients experience hot flashes in the cheeks, palms, and soles of the feet.

1. Symptoms include close contact history with tuberculosis, and the onset may be acute or slow, mostly with low fever (especially in the afternoon), night sweats, fatigue, poor appetite, weight loss, and menstrual disorders in women; respiratory symptoms include cough, sputum, hemoptysis, chest pain, varying degrees of chest tightness or dyspnea. 2. Physical signs: Pulmonary signs vary depending on the severity of the disease and the extent of the lesions. It is difficult to find positive signs in early-stage, small-scale tuberculosis. Those with a wider range of lesions will have dull percussion, increased vocal fremitus, low alveolar breath sounds and moist rales. In late stage tuberculosis, fibrosis develops and local contraction causes pleural collapse and mediastinal displacement. In the early stages of tuberculous pleurisy, there is a pleural friction sound. When a large amount of pleural effusion is formed, the chest wall becomes full, dull to percussion, and the vocal fremitus and breath sounds decrease or disappear.

3. Fever treatment measures (1) First, test the patient's temperature. If the patient's fever is below 38 degrees, no treatment is generally required. Generally, low-grade fever can be treated without the use of antipyretic drugs. (2) If the fever exceeds this standard, symptomatic treatment can be considered. It is best to seek medical attention in a timely manner and choose to have a follow-up examination. If there is an inflammatory infection, combine antibiotics with anti-inflammatory treatment and try to change the tuberculosis treatment drug. (3) Regular check-ups, developing good living habits, and adjusting to a light diet are more reliable. Tuberculosis experts kindly remind you: What should be done if a patient with pulmonary tuberculosis develops a fever? For other symptoms of tuberculosis, you can drink more water to regulate them, eat a light diet, and avoid irritating, spicy foods, tobacco, alcohol, and other foods. Take medication regularly, on time, and throughout the entire course.
