The sequelae of surgical anesthesia are a concern for patients, especially when undergoing general anesthesia, whether there will be "sequelae" and whether it will affect intelligence and physical health. Nowadays, when it comes to anesthesia surgery that can relieve pain, many people have the mentality that they cannot do without it, but they are also afraid of it, so there are various "myths" about anesthesia. The situation of children is different from that of adults. During local anesthesia, people are awake, see the surgical scene and feel the pulling of internal organs. Adults can tolerate and resolve it by themselves. However, for children, these feelings plus the fear of being separated from their parents may leave psychological scars. There is no such worry during general anesthesia. Children will feel like they have "slept for a while" and see their parents again when they wake up. In addition to pediatric inpatient surgeries, there are currently some outpatient surgeries, such as some oral surgeries. Women and Children's Medical Center also recommends that parents choose general anesthesia for their children. In fact, the dangers of anesthesia are not just death. Specifically, they can be divided into three categories: the first is "shallow anesthesia", which will cause a high stress response, that is, the patient will feel pain; the second is "improper sleeping anesthesia", which will cause the patient to be conscious during the operation and have feelings during the operation, such as feeling that the internal organs are being pulled; the third is "too deep anesthesia", which will increase the early postoperative mortality rate. In other words, the dosage of anesthetics should not be too little or too much, so that patients can be painless, comfortable and safe. This raises the need for "accurate anesthesia", that is, there must be a clear depth of anesthesia, and the depth of anesthesia must be accurately grasped and adjusted according to surgical needs, so that patients can wake up in time after surgery instead of having adverse reactions such as vomiting. It is difficult to guarantee the stability of anesthesia quality just by experience. Compared with the previous anesthesia method that only relied on direct monitoring of indicators such as blood pressure and heart rate, anesthesia will be more accurate by monitoring the patient's EEG signals and measuring the patient's sleep depth, muscle relaxation degree and analgesia effect. After the anesthesia was injected, the patient's brain waves decreased and he entered an anesthetized state; during the operation, the brain waves were almost a straight line, which showed that the level of anesthesia remained stable; and after the operation, the brain waves rose directly back to the level before the operation, indicating that the anesthesia was so accurate that the patient woke up just at the end of the operation. It will take some time for EEG signal monitoring to become widespread in China. Due to the current uneven monitoring efforts, less than 10% of surgeries can do this. |
