Some rhinitis medicines available in general pharmacies can only control the development of rhinitis to a serious level. 1. Can sinusitis be cured by taking Chinese medicine?

The prescription uses Astragalus, roasted licorice, Codonopsis, Angelica, Tangerine peel, Cimicifuga, Bupleurum, and Atractylodes; it can soothe the lungs and clear away heat, and promote lung function and open the orifices. The prescription uses Yinqiao Powder combined with Qingwei Powder with modifications. The prescription uses honeysuckle, forsythia, angelica, trichosanthes, mint, angelica dahurica, platycodon, magnolia, coptis chinensis, Xanthium sibiricum, cimicifuga, and raw licorice.

2. Several Chinese medicine prescriptions for treating sinusitis

2.1. Tongqiao Jiedu Decoction

Drug composition: 15g each of bupleurum, magnolia flower, and platycodon, 10g each of siler, scutellaria, angelica dahurica, xanthium sibiricum, red peony root, radix trichosanthis, peucedanum peony root, ligusticum chuanxiong, 30g each of coix seed, houttuynia cordata, and dandelion, and 6g of raw licorice. Add or subtract: For those with yellow and thick secretions, add 15g each of Trichosanthes peel and wax gourd seed; for those with clear and thin secretions, add 10g each of apricot kernel, Fritillaria thunbergii, and Poria cocos; for those with severe nasal congestion, add 39g of Asarum and 10g of Patchouli; for those with obvious qi deficiency, add 30g of Astragalus and 10g of Atractylodes; for constipation, add 3-6g of Rhubarb; Decoction: Decoction in water, 1 dose per day, divided into 2 doses.

2.2. Modifications of Biyuanshu Pills

Drug composition: 100g of Xanthium sibiricum, 80g of Asarum, 90g of Patchouli, 80g of Platycodon, 100g of Ligusticum chuanxiong, 80g of Rhizoma Smilacis Glabrae, 90g of Smilax glabra, 80g of Saposhnikovia divaricata, 150g of raw oyster, 80g of Scutellaria baicalensis, and 60g of Licorice. Additions and subtractions: For patients with severe headaches, appropriate drugs for clearing the head and relieving headaches can be selected according to the different parts of the headache, such as Angelica dahurica and Vitex mandshurica for vertex pain. Preparation and usage: Grind the above medicines into fine powder, make pills with refined honey, each pill weighs 9g, and wrap them with wax paper. Take 1 pill twice a day with warm water.

3. Cold water therapy for sinusitis

When washing your face, use the palm of your hand to hold cold water from the tap, cover your nose, inhale the cold water into your nostrils, then blow it out, then hold water again and inhale it, then blow it out again, repeat several times every day. Sinusitis is an inflammatory disease of the sinus mucosa. It is caused by respiratory tract infection, respiratory tract allergy, anatomical abnormalities of the nasal cavity and sinuses, which leads to swelling of the nasal cavity and sinus mucosa, obstruction of the sinus openings, and failure of normal discharge of sinus secretions. Washing the nose with cold water can promote blood circulation, shrink the nasal concha and nasal sinus mucosa, facilitate ventilation and drainage of the nasal sinus, and promote the recovery of sinusitis to a certain extent.

Prevention of sinusitis

1. Strengthen physical exercise, improve physical fitness, prevent colds, and do nasal massage regularly.

2. Acute rhinitis (colds) and dental diseases should be treated actively.

3. Do not blow your nose hard when there is secretion in the nasal cavity. You should block one nostril and blow out the nasal secretions, then block the other nostril and blow out the nasal secretions.

4. Timely and thorough treatment of acute nasal inflammation and correction of nasal anatomical deformities, as well as treatment of chronic rhinitis and nasal septum deviation.

5. Avoid diving and choking when swimming, and try to keep your head above water.

6. It is not advisable to take an airplane when suffering from acute rhinitis.

7. Properly treat allergic diseases and improve nasal and sinus ventilation and drainage.
