1. Don’t be greedy for coolness

Therefore, we should keep our waist warm and apply hot compress to the waist to promote blood circulation and help relieve pain symptoms. 2. Do not bend down suddenly to pick up things or lift heavy objects

The lumbar intervertebral disc is located between the upper and lower vertebrae, and is wide in the front and narrow in the back. Suddenly bending down to pick up something is not conducive to the retraction of the lumbar intervertebral disc. Lifting heavy objects often requires exerting force on one side of the body, which is not good for the lumbar disc, so it should be avoided. When picking up things, you should squat down first.

3. Don’t sit for long periods of time

People who engage in long-term sitting work, such as long-term desk workers, drivers, factory assembly line workers, etc., have a high incidence of low back pain. Sitting for a long time will cause the lumbar spine to be in a backward bending state, the waist muscles and ligaments are in a tense state, and the pressure on the lumbar intervertebral disc will increase 10 times!

Therefore, it is meaningful to change body positions during working hours. We can stand up and walk around every 20 to 30 minutes to develop good habits.

4. Don’t eat spicy food

Due to the compression and stimulation of the nerves caused by lumbar disc herniation, the nerves become more sensitive to external stimuli, and are also sensitive to irritants such as raw and cold food, tobacco and alcohol. This is not conducive to relieving the pain caused by lumbar disc herniation and should be avoided as much as possible.

5. Don’t bend over for a long time

For example, some jobs require long-term bending and exertion, such as carpenters planing wood and farmers hoeing the fields. In these jobs, the pressure on the lumbar intervertebral disc is more than doubled compared to when standing normally! For example, when bending over to draw water from a well, the pressure on the waist can increase by 5 times!

6. Don’t use explosive force

The lumbar intervertebral disc tissue is located between the two lumbar vertebrae and bears the pressure and movement of the lumbar vertebrae. If you are suddenly subjected to excessive explosive force, it is easy to cause intervertebral disc damage.

Therefore, before we exert force, we should move our waist first and exert force slowly. For example, when lifting heavy objects, prepare your posture first and do not use sudden force.
