Sweating is a normal physiological phenomenon. It helps regulate body temperature and promotes the excretion of toxins from the body. Blindly suppressing sweating is harmful to your health. Excessive sweating is often an external manifestation of some internal diseases, such as hyperthyroidism, autonomic nervous system dysfunction, rheumatic fever, tuberculosis, etc. Patients often experience abnormal phenomena such as spontaneous sweating and night sweats. In addition to internal medicine treatment, you can massage the following three acupoints to help stop sweating. People who sweat a lot on a daily basis can also use this massage to prevent excessive sweating. Hegu Point Located in the depression between the base of the thumb and index finger, which we often call the "tiger's mouth", pressing and rubbing the Hegu point is effective in stopping sweaty hands. "Hegu" means that the qi and blood of the large intestine meridian gather here, forming a strong water, dampness and wind energy field. Modern research shows that massaging the Hegu acupoint can shrink the sweat glands. When doing this, use the thumb of one hand to press and rub the Hegu point on the opposite hand, with enough force to produce a sore and swollen feeling. Fuliu Point Located 2 finger widths upward between the inner ankle and Achilles tendon of the calf. It is advisable to gently massage the area with the tip of your thumb until you feel a slight soreness or swelling. In the word “复熘”, “复” means to repeat and “熘” means to dissipate quietly, which means that the moisture in the kidney meridian evaporates and ascends here. The antiperspirant effect of massaging the Fuliu point is that stimulating it can normalize water metabolism. Hegu and Fuliu points are the "best partners" for stopping perspiration. The Hegu point should be massaged particularly, while the Fuliu point should be massaged lightly. When you sweat too much, you can first massage the Hegu point for 2 minutes until you feel obvious soreness, and then gently massage for 2 minutes. Zusanli Located 4 finger widths below the outer kneecap, between the fibula and tibia. Zusanli is a major acupoint for strengthening the body and mind. Massaging it can regulate the body's immunity, enhance disease resistance, regulate the spleen and stomach, tonify the middle and replenish Qi, promote blood circulation, dispel wind and dampness, and strengthen the body and eliminate evil. Modern medicine believes that pressing Zusanli has a bidirectional benign regulatory effect on the function of the adrenal cortex system and can improve the body's ability to prevent disease. Massaging Zusanli is more suitable for patients who are chronically weak and sweat excessively. When massaging, place the thumb on the Zusanli acupoint. Press vertically downward first, and rub at the same time until a feeling of soreness and swelling is produced. Each time, massage for a few seconds, then gradually relax. You can massage 2 to 3 times a day, each time for 5 minutes. |
