1. Symptoms

In the early stage, it is a small submucosal nodule, which is generally asymptomatic. It usually manifests as vaginal pain, vaginal blockage, and discomfort. Some cases may be accompanied by irregular vaginal bleeding or bleeding during sexual intercourse, increased leucorrhea, purulent or bloody discharge, and may have a foul odor. In the late stage, heavy vaginal bleeding may occur, and compression and infiltration of the bladder, urethra and rectum may cause symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, interrupted urination, difficult defecation or constipation. About half of the cases have vaginal and rectal pain.

2. Physical signs

The most common site of the tumor is the upper part of the posterior wall of the vagina, followed by the lower part of the posterior wall, but it may also occur in other walls. The tumor often grows locally and may have a pseudocapsule. Vaginal examination may reveal a hard nodular mass or an invasive mass, which may be accompanied by bleeding and ulcers on the surface, and the vaginal wall may become hard and narrow. In the late stage, lymph node and blood metastasis and metastasis to distant organs such as lung and liver may occur.
