Diverticulitis of the appendix

Appendic diverticulitis usually refers to a situation in which a diverticulum forms in the appendix and becomes infected and inflamed. It may cause symptoms such as abdominal pain and constipation, and may also be accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Appendic diverticulitis may be caused by constipation due to frequent consumption of low-fiber foods in daily life, or it may be caused by partial blockage of the intestine, which prevents the contents of the diverticulum from being discharged through the intestine in time. In this case, tissues in the appendix or colon are easily infected, thereby causing diseases such as appendiculitis. It usually occurs in middle-aged and elderly people, and can usually be diagnosed through abdominal color ultrasound examinations and barium enema examinations.

Appendic diverticulitis can generally be treated with drugs such as penicillin or gentamicin under the doctor's advice. During the treatment, you also need to eat more high-fiber foods, which can usually promote smooth bowel movements. If general treatment and drug treatment are not effective, and long-term appendiculitis leads to intestinal obstruction, surgical resection may be required.
