4. To treat postpartum bleeding: pound 5 liters of sesame seeds, soak them in 1 dou of wine overnight. Remove the residue the next morning and take 1 liter of the warm solution before meals. Physiological characteristics

Annual erect herb, 1-3 meters high, branches with longitudinal grooves and densely covered with grayish white appressed hairs. The leaves are palmately divided, with lobes lanceolate or linear-lanceolate, 7-15 cm long, the middle lobe is the longest, 0.5-2 cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, narrowly cuneate at the base, dark green on the surface, slightly rough hairy, the back densely covered with grayish white appressed hairs when young and then becoming glabrous, with coarse serrations on the margin that bend inwards, the midrib and lateral veins slightly sunken on the surface, and raised on the back; the petiole is 3-15 cm long, densely covered with grayish white appressed hairs; the stipules are linear. The male inflorescence is up to 25 cm long; the flowers are yellow-green, with 5 perianths, membranous, covered with fine appressed hairs on the outside, 5 stamens, very short filaments, and oblong anthers; the pedicels are about 2-4 mm long; the female flowers are green; there is 1 perianth, tightly wrapping the ovary, slightly covered with small hairs; the ovary is nearly spherical and wrapped in bracts on the outside. The achenes are covered by persistent yellow-brown bracts, the peel is hard and brittle, and the surface has fine reticular patterns. The flowering period is May-June, and the fruiting period is July.

Medicinal properties

This product is oval in shape, 4 to 5.5 mm long and 2.5 to 4 mm in diameter. The surface is gray-green or gray-yellow with fine white or brown reticular patterns, ridges on both sides, a slightly pointed top, and a round pedicel scar at the base. The peel is thin, brittle and easily broken. The seed coat is green, with 2 cotyledons, milky white and rich in oil. Slight odor, light taste.
