What are the symptoms of urticaria

Urticaria can have a great impact and pain on patients, so it is necessary to pay attention to active examination and treatment. Once some symptoms are found, they should be taken seriously, such as observing whether the skin is uneven, orange peel-like, or whether it is severely itchy and causes nausea and vomiting.

(1) The skin is uneven and has an orange peel-like appearance

The onset is relatively acute, and skin lesions often occur suddenly. They are localized red wheals of varying sizes with clear boundaries and different shapes. They may be round, quasi-round or irregular. They are isolated and scattered at first, and gradually increase in number and size with scratching, merging into irregular, map-like or ring-shaped lesions. If the serum in the microvessels exudes rapidly and compresses the wall of the capillaries, the wheals may appear pale, surrounded by a red halo, and the skin may be uneven and appear orange peel-like.

(2) The disease may recur multiple times within a day

Most skin lesions last for half an hour to several hours and then disappear naturally without leaving any traces. However, new wheals will occur one after another, continuously, and may recur multiple times within a day.

(3) Itching

Conscious severe itching and burning sensation.

(4) Chest tightness, shortness of breath, and difficulty breathing

The location is not fixed and may be widespread throughout the body or limited to a certain part. Sometimes the mucosa may also be affected. For example, if the gastrointestinal tract is affected, mucosal edema may occur, and symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may appear. When the laryngeal mucosa is invaded, there may be chest tightness, wheezing, and difficulty breathing. In severe cases, laryngeal edema may cause suffocation and endanger life. If accompanied by systemic symptoms such as high fever, chills, and rapid pulse, special vigilance should be taken for the possibility of serious infection such as sepsis.
