Raw Atractylodes macrocephala is good at strengthening the spleen and relieving constipation. When raw Atractylodes macrocephala is used for laxative purposes, 30 grams of decoction can be used per day, and it is often used together with Citrus aurantium.

Fried Atractylodes: Also known as roasted Atractylodes, first sprinkle one portion of bran in a hot pan, wait until smoke comes out, then pour in 10 portions of Atractylodes slices and stir-fry until light yellow, take out, sieve out the bran and let cool. Fried Atractylodes macrocephala is good at drying dampness.

1. The median lethal dose of the decoction injected intraperitoneally into mice is 13.3±0.7 g/kg. When 0.25 g/kg of the decoction was injected intravenously into anesthetized dogs, the blood pressure of most dogs dropped sharply, with an average drop to 52.8% of the original level, and no recovery was observed within 3-4 hours.

2. Rats were given 0.5 g/kg of the decoction daily for 1-2 months, and no obvious toxic reactions were observed. However, after 14 days of medication, there was moderate leukopenia, mainly lymphocytopenia; after 2 months of medication, there was mild anemia, and there were no changes in the brain, myocardium and liver tissues. Some animals have mild granular degeneration in individual tubular epithelial cells, but no changes in the glomeruli.
