How to treat vitiligo effectively

Vitiligo causes many patients to fall into endless pain, so we should all pay attention to the treatment of vitiligo. Common treatments include drug treatment, surgical treatment, depigmentation treatment, and vitamin supplementation.

1. Drug treatment:

(1) Psoralen and its derivatives: such as methoxsalen (8-methoxypsoralen) 20-40 mg per day, exposed to long-wave ultraviolet light 1-2 hours after taking or topical 1%

Methoxsalen (8-MOP) solution followed by ultraviolet light exposure (PUVA therapy) for several months is sometimes effective. But please note that this drug has significant toxic side effects. Or use psoralen injection (psoralen preparation) for intramuscular injection, once a day, 2 to 4 ml each time.

(2) Large doses of vitamins: such as B vitamins, vitamin C, and vitamin P, taken for a long time. There are also reports of taking aminobenzoic acid (p-aminobenzoic acid, PABA) orally or by injection, and taking corticosteroids orally.

2. Surgical treatment:

In recent years, full-thickness skin transplantation has been used to treat vitiligo lesions, followed by PUVA treatment after healing. There have also been reports of successful use of melanocyte autotransplantation.

3. Depigmentation therapy:

Also known as reverse therapy, it is suitable for patients with large skin lesions that exceed more than half of the body surface area. 3% to 20% monobenzyl ether of hydroquinone can be used.

hydroquinone) cream for external application, etc.
