1. Vascular emptiness, wind and phlegm blocking the meridians

[Treatment method] The treatment should be to dispel wind and resolve phlegm, promote blood circulation and dredge meridians.

[Prescription] The prescription is based on Qianzheng Powder with added ingredients: white aconite root, white silkworm, scorpion, centipede, siler, ligusticum chuanxiong, and angelica dahurica. For those with symptoms of cold, add asarum and ephedra to warm the meridians, dredge the collaterals and dispel the cold; for those with heavy phlegm and dampness, add pinellia, tangerine peel, poria, and licorice to harmonize the stomach and resolve phlegm; for those with signs of blood stasis, add millettia reticulata, radix spatholobi, safflower etc. to promote blood circulation and dredge the collaterals.

2. Phlegm and blood stasis block each other, blocking the meridians

[Treatment method] The treatment should be to invigorate qi and activate blood circulation; eliminate phlegm and dredge meridians.

[Prescription] The prescription is Buyang Huanwu Decoction combined with Qianzheng Powder with modifications: raw astragalus, chuanxiong, earthworm, red peony root, white aconite, white mustard seed, safflower, whole scorpion, white silkworm, and finely sliced ​​​​worm. For those with cold symptoms, cinnamon twig, notopterygium wilfordii, etc. can be added to warm the meridians and dispel cold; for those with heat symptoms, scutellaria baicalensis and gypsum can be added to clear the heat in the gallbladder and stomach meridians; for those with obvious phlegm and dampness, Erchen Decoction can be used together; for those with facial spasm, the dosage of whole scorpion can be appropriately increased, and centipede, white peony root, licorice, Millettia reticulata, etc. can be added to relieve spasms, relieve urgency and dredge the meridians.

Acupuncture treatment

When using local acupuncture to treat facial neuritis, attention should be paid to the intensity of stimulation, so that there is no local stiffness or tightness, so as not to affect the recovery of facial paralysis and cause facial muscle spasm.

(1) Body acupuncture: Acupuncture treatment is based on the principle of dispelling wind and cold, resolving phlegm and unblocking meridians, and acupoints are mostly selected locally. The points commonly used are Taiyang, Xiaguan, Yangbai, Sibai, Dicang, Jiache, Yingxiang, etc. on the affected side, and Hegu on the healthy side. For those who cannot raise their eyebrows, add Zanzhu on the affected side; for mastoid pain, add Yifeng; for tongue numbness and loss of taste, add Lianquan.

(3) Fire needle: Sit down and place a sterilized coin in your mouth, close to the buccal mucosa on the affected side. Use your fingers to fix the coin in the mouth. After disinfecting the face, insert a three-edged needle heated red on an alcohol lamp vertically into the cheek (outside and above the Dicang acupoint) until it touches the coin.
