Itchy skin when sleeping at night

Many people now have this trouble, that is, their skin often itches when they sleep at night. It makes patients very distressed, and if it continues for a long time, it will seriously affect their normal rest and life. Especially sensitive skin, due to the lack of defense function, sensitive skin will have an excessive reaction to the normal stimulation of the external environment, such as itchy skin at night.

If you feel itchy skin when you sleep at night, it may be caused by the following reasons: Allergic reaction: Allergy to chemicals in mattresses or bedding may be the cause of itchy skin at night. The fabric of your bedding or mattress can also exacerbate the itching. Some fabrics can irritate the skin, and patients need to be careful to avoid wearing these clothes to avoid causing itchy skin.

Itchy skin during menopause is a very common problem. After menopause, the skin all over the body becomes dehydrated. It may cause itchy skin at night.

Liver problems: Cirrhosis is a chronic disease that interferes with the normal functioning of the liver. This disease causes bile byproducts to travel to the skin, causing extreme itching that may become noticeable at night, primarily due to chronic alcoholism.

Psoriasis is a skin disease characterized by red patches covered with dry scales. Can appear on the scalp, ears, genitals, and areas of excessive bony skin. The skin may become itchy, and friction with rough bedspreads can make the condition worse.

Extreme heat: If the skin is overexposed to the sun or tanning rays, this can cause skin irritation and itching at night. Keep yourself hydrated and drink plenty of fluids like fresh juices and most importantly cool water. Stay away from aerated drinks.

Hot water bath: After a hot water shower, the skin becomes extremely dry and itchy at night. The bedding and clothes used at night can cause itchy skin due to friction with the dry skin. This is one of the main reasons for itchy skin after a shower.

For itching sufferers you must moisturize your skin at least twice a day to avoid itchy skin. Applying moisturizer soon after bathing will help avoid itching. Also, when it comes to clothing, make sure you wear loose-fitting clothing, preferably made of cotton, that won’t irritate your skin. Also, use appropriate bedding and cushion fabrics.
