How to treat and prevent colon polyps?

Colon polyps are a type of lesion within the colon cavity and are relatively common in clinical practice. Strictly speaking, colon polyps have a huge impact on the body, and treatment is particularly important. The treatment for colon polyps is mainly medication or surgery, and prevention should also be paid attention to during treatment.

1. Medication

(1) For minor bleeding, oral antibiotics and hemostatics or Chinese medicine should be taken orally or by enema.

(2) For patients with heavy bleeding, in addition to using hemostatic drugs and antibiotics, and infusion to supplement electrolytes and vitamins, preoperative preparations should be made, such as preparing blood.

(3) If the amount of bleeding is greater than 800 ml or blood pressure cannot be maintained, blood transfusion and laparotomy should be performed promptly.

2. With the emergence of electronic colonoscopy and the development of technology, electronic colonoscopy has become the most important and effective method for diagnosing and treating colon polyps. Colonoscopic polyp resection and biopsy have become very mature technologies. The emergence of pain-free technology also provides patients with a more comfortable method for colonoscopy and treatment.

3. Aspirin prevents colon polyps in women: Some women have a common genetic mutation that can slow down the decomposition of aspirin. If these women insist on taking aspirin, they can reduce the risk of colon polyps. In contrast, aspirin did not reduce the risk of colon polyps in women who did not have the gene variant.

4. Calcium supplementation helps prevent colon polyps: Calcium can help humans fight colon polyps and colon cancer, even if the patient has suffered from these diseases before. Studies have shown that people who take calcium supplements every day have a 19-34% lower risk of recurrence of colon polyps. Foods rich in calcium include milk and other dairy products, as well as broccoli. In addition, vitamin D (which helps the body absorb calcium) has also been shown to reduce the risk of colorectal cancer.
